Concrete guttering

Options
My mother's house was built in the mid 1950's, and has concrete guttering. Some of it now needs replacing, but I was wondering if anyone else has any experience of this process, costs, etc.?
C'mon you Canaries!!

Concrete guttering? Are you sure it's not asbestos?

Has guttering ever been made from asbestos? I'm pretty sure it's concrete.

All my mother in laws estate is built with concrete guttering.
The majority of people are having them cut off and upvc facias fitted along with new guttering.
Mother in law had allready had theres lined in lead once before and that leaked from time to time so went for pvc in the end.
    Been great since.
Quite a job the guy removes 3 row tiles off roof to get at concrete gutter then still saws it off flush to face of brick "in sections as heavy"
Fits upvc facias replaces tiles and new gutters.
    Off a scaffold of course.

Theres a few houses round my area, a lot have had it removed but some seem to have lined the concrete with plastic guttering inside the concrete. (can only tell because there down hill )

I would guess they siliconed it in or something, the down pipes are plastic as well.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

It's probably "Finlock" guttering and it's still available (Google for it). My previous house had this and a previous owner had lined this with fibreglass. I lived there for 10 years and never had a problem. There are specialist companies who can fit continuous aluminium liners quite successfully. (Some of my neighbours did this) but it's quite expensive.

Yup, just found out they are the Finlock type. I might investigate the idea of replacing with upvc.

Hi could you tell me please what the cost of the gutter removal was we have recently been quoted £2000 for the removal of the finlock gutters is this about right or to expensive we have had the gutters sealed three times in ten years and have had enough of throwing cash away does anyone know wether the removal of these gutters and replacing them with the soffits facia system has solved the problems of leaking any advice and help would be much appreciated thankyou from one despreate house owner

also we are a mid terrace property can the gutters be removed and leaking problems on our property be solved if the houses either side have not had there gutters removed we have been told that unless all house holders have the work done we may still have problems does anyone know if this is true

Could you tell me if you had this done and, if so, was it satisfactory. What company did you use. Ours is a bungalow with this awful finlock guttering that is giving terrible damp problems so we are thinking of removal but obviously want a good builder who specialises in this sort of work. Regards,

Can you tell me if this has been successful for your mother-in-law as we are having terribler problems with damp from the concrete (Finlock) guttering leaking so are considering having them cut off but would obviously like the name of the company you used as you need a specialist in this type of work. Thanks & regards,
