On going into Sainsburys at 5:45pm (closed at 6pm) as mum realised she had no tonic water, the bakery dept were giving away their cakes from the cake counter for FREE! It was pot luck as the pink boxes were sealed. Took two boxes home and each of them had 2 cupcakes - all different flavours, a brownie and a chocolate tart.I think they would be £3.50 as they are 75p-90p each, 3 for 2.
They should keep for a few days.Mum put them in a Tuppaware cake box in the garage. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
probably saved them for the staff.
Sometimes, it depends on how much stock is left and the company policy.
A few years ago, one of my friends that works for Sainsburys, had loads of the non-turkey roasts left - 3 bird roast, partridge etc. They were told to freeze them and offer them to colleagues for £5 up to original price of £30 and £8 for over.
Not many colleagues wanted these and she asked if I wanted one - I did and it was used for Easter Sunday. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I stopped off for a Christmas drink earlier just as Oxford Street stores were closing, and was saddened by the number of homeless (by that I mean single people surrounded by a fortress of their worldly possessions desperately trying to keep warm). Wouldn't it be lovely if supermarkets shared their unsold perishable food with those that have nothing?
Before retirement I worked with a member of the Salvation Army and she told me our local M & S donated their left over perishables to them for the homeless and destitute. I don't know whether this is still the case though. So many people hover these days waiting for reductions in there I'd be surprised if anything was left."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. Merry Christmas folks.
Between Christmas and New Year, you get a lot of reductions on 'normal' food - mince, ready meals, pizzas, apple pie etc as people are eating Christmas food for days on end.
So use the next week to replace the gaps in the freezer made by the Christmas food with examples of above. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The range is already on 3 for 2 and now some items reduced from £3 to £2 such as smoked salmon blinis and mascapone parmesan canapes! I tried these items having received a complimentary voucher from Tesco for £40

What do you mean 'already'? Since when has a chilled Tesco range not always been on multi-buy pricing? Barring glitches you will not receive a multi-buy discount. So the short-dated reduced price is the same price as the fresh stuff.0

Popped into ASDA on the way home, loads of veg reduced to 10p! Fresh egg noodles, sliced mushrooms, carrot batons and soup mix. My mum picked up a reduced turkey at makro for me, £5 down from £330

Looks like Waitrose have over-ordered on fresh veg near me. Just picked up loose leeks reduced from £2 per kg, to 25p per kg and carrots down from 60p per kg to 19p per kg! Wish I had got more really and prepped it for the freezer at those prices! Also got a Texas BBQ Brisket for almost half price.Minimalist
