My best ever was when Sainsburys tills reduced BOGOF items by full price, even if they were much reduced. One evening many years ago packets of smoked salmon were reduced from £4 to £1, so I got all of them. For each pair of packets, the till rang up £2 and knocked off £4, so I ended up with a negative final total! The checkout lady couldn't pay me to take the salmon away, so I had to buy something useful (in fact a big tin of coffee) in order to get back into the black, so to speak. A few months later Sainsbury's programmers fixed that bug. Happy days. . . !!2

That happened to me as well. I was well aware of the bug and always made sure that my total would come to a plus amount because I hoped they wouldn't notice then, but one day I missed it, because the reduced stuff was moved near the door near closing time and the offer didn't show. The lady at the till said, "well, we seem to owe you xxx (can't remember) and she gave it to me! That was Sainsburys but it worked for a while at the Co-op as well.moneysavingnovice999 said:My best ever was when Sainsburys tills reduced BOGOF items by full price, even if they were much reduced. The two Tesco's I usually go in no longer do the final 'big reduction'. Almost all items now only go down to 50-75% of full price.
It's driven away the small army of dedicated bargain-hunters who would congregate near the reduced sections.
Tesco then remove what's left - and it's usually quite a fair bit - at around 8pm. They apparently then give it to local food charities, which is obviously a good thing... although I miss the days of stocking our freezer with meat and a few quality ready-meals at 25% of the original price (if you could get a look-in past the very savvy and organised daily attendees!)

I just say excuse me, and move their trolley out of the way.Gaelen said:I often find it a hit and a miss. Usually I would go down after training so its about 7.30 but sometimes at a weekend they are there quite early in the morning too.
The one thing that annoys me is when there is a couple and both will stand there with the trolly completely blocking it for everyone, or the people who physically push you out the way.0
