Was on the lookout for some bread at Sainsbos yesterday evening - just fancied a slice of toast - and ended up with 3 loaves of Vogel bread (800g) at 24p each. Straight into the freezer (less the slice I toasted). ?9 weeks until Christmas - I don't think I shall need to buy bread in all of that timeValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Quick question...
What do you do with all these 'oops' goodies, like if they have that days date as best before?
I'm just curious because I see lots of people posting their buys on a sc site but I worry what I would do with it all, can you freeze them?0 -
I only buy things I know I can use in the next few days or freeze.
Things like fruit and veg will often last a few days (or longer for things like potatoes and onions) as long as they are in good condition when bought.
With the veg I can't use before it goes off I either blanch and freeze or make soup. (Bought a slightly damaged huge pumpkin for 2p last week and made a big batch of soup the next day). Fresh food is also bought for our 4 bunnies.
Meat I either freeze as it is, use the next day or make a meal from it and then freeze.
I've bought fresh pasta before and frozen that as well as desserts, bread, samosas, spring rolls, cooked meats and pizzas.
We have a huge chest freezer which helps and I try my best to buy only things we will actually use. Remember to check that products can be frozen as some of the fresh fish etc have been previously frozen so would need to either be used the next day or cooked into a meal before freezing.
The people at my local Mr T's are all very civilised when looking for bargains, we are all very polite and there is no grabbing or pushing, we are all happy to share our bargains with each other![STRIKE]CC1: £354.35 / £354.35[/STRIKE]
