The ys items didn't look too much of a bargain, most only had a few pence knocked off, nothng like the bargains others seem to achieve on reading these posts. Mince was reduced from £3.49 to £2.99, is this the usual practise or was I unlucky in my timing? So bought nothing except potatoes at full price which I needed anyway.
every store is different and run discounts based on timings that work best for them., and you have to do your own research over a few days/weeks. I find that between 6:30 and 7 is best for my Sainsburys. If you find lots of lines with little discount then you are too early. if you dont find anything you are too late.
Also - you shouldnt go necessarily expecting to find anything ,Should be treated as a bonus.0 -
Thanks dlusman et al,
I certainly take the point of it all being a bonus.
This is hard to explain but after 3yrs of being unable to get anywhere without being in loads of pain and not able to walk independantly, the freedom I now feel since being mended and having no pain at all is hard to put into words. I found I could drive again last week so I am using every opportunity to get out. I feel like an excited kid in a sweetie shop, and I feel as if I have to catch up with everyone else.
Enough said.0 -
3 kilos of strawberries for £7.50 I will use them to make jam. Organic beef burgers and organic pork meatballs 99 p each - Waitrose this morning, there were also loads of organic chickens but the reductions weren't enough to make it affordable. Waitrose is just round the corner so I may nip back after lunch and see if they have come down any more, if they hit 50% off I will buy one.0

Went to MrS last night 9pm, it worked going late - got
4pks x raspberries 49p each,
4pks x sausages 19p each
4pks x smoked trout 29p each
lettuce 20p. Also picked up the items I needed for the week. The total came to 22.38.
I could have put more of the items in my basket but didn't want to appear too greedy, so left plenty behind.
Fortunately, apart from the lettuce all can be frozen.0 -

Also I have noticed if the store has a shed load of reductions, they will reduce it again earlier than normal. If they have loads of a product, they will reduce it the day before.0 -
