There is a link to the pdf. You're both on the internet.

The PDF does not enlarge well. I prefer a crisply printed large print one which I laminate. As a business I can also get a wall chart for the office.

OK, did some calculations. As an ordinary person in China with no account or mailing license, it will cost you £1.71 to send a 300g Teddy Bear measuring wider than 16cm from China to the UK.
From 1 April 2013, it will cost you as a UK resident to send the same item second class, within the UK £5.20.
What is your point? Mass emigration to China? It will never catch on.
China has always relied on massive exports for their economy, and so subsidises mail costs.
You can live on less than a pound a day in Vietnam. But so what?

macfly, what proportion are China post paying of the £1.71 to Royal Mail for doing most of the leg work, while British sellers are being squeezed out?

I wouldn't count on that. The depth limit for small packet is 8cms and if you are going on the exemption for a cube the book is going to have to be less than 16cms long or wide. So you are probably OK with normal books, but some of the older books or even bodice rippers in hardback might be a struggle if you wrap them well in bubble wrap.

The book including packaging can still be up to 35x45x8cm. That will cover the vast majority of books.

Does anyone have a business account with RM?
I see that minimum requirements are dropping from 5000 LL and pkts to 1000 but RM will not speak to me until after 2 April.
Are sizes staying as previous for business users?

and does China post work in an open market under EU regs?
    no
So if you want to compare prices, look back to when RM had a monopoly and was state owned in a safe market

You might try looking at the community boards on ebay, there is quite a alot of chat on there about business accounts with suggestions that the prices will be much much cheaper than the advertised ones for private customers.

    no

I've tried to make clear, I'm not complaining what China Mail charges it's customers. It's obvious it is still a largely poor country of people, and they need to make their postal service accessible. That is their issue.

My point is Royal Mail take their post and deliver it to us in the UK. How much is it costing Royal Mail to do so? Are we not subsidising each and every time we post something. It obvious that if a large parcel only costs an ordinary person in China (and probably a lot cheaper for a Chinese business) £1.71, and we are paying 5.20, then you do the math.

A couple of you think I am complaining about the cost in China or why it is cheaper - I am not. Think about what Royal Mail have agreed to and it's implications.

Thankfully most of my lines are large letters so I shouldn't be affected by this, for anything bigger I'll use the MyHermes parcelshop, used it a lot and never had any problems :)
