In my local PO this morning they had a cube cardboard box at each counter, I assume this is the 16x16x16 small parcel exception gauge??

    not these?

I received a parcel today well over size - but still put through as small parcel. Nice to see some PO's still letting em through.

    Probably confused staff.

Are you dropping your bags off at a delivery/sorting office or post office?
What is the benefit of dropping off at the sorting/delivery office rather than the post office, my local sorting office is closer than the post office to me. I didn't know that you could do this, thanks.

you would need to check with the DO before doing this.
If it were me I wold be asking when the items would be collected from the DO
DOs dont have a far different collection set up to Post Offices
So you want to know how long your items will be sitting as it could cost you a day
also make sure the dO staff know what to do. IME this is something most DO staff wont know
if its a mail centre(that accepts drop offs) then you get the benefit of no collection issues

Yes agreed, my local delivery office make it abundantly clear how peeved they are at me giving them work to do when I take franked mail down there and actually ask me why I don't get a collection, on one occasion pretty aggresively, and they invariably throw my precious bags into cages.
The only size restrictions RM 24/48 have are 61x46x46cm (2kg for 48, 20kg for
24), none of this small/medium parcel with cube/tube exception.

I'm trying to think how this would work for someone with 95% large letters and 5% parcels. hmmmm.

Please could someone point me in the right direction? I need to send a small parcel to the US, but I can't work out from the RM website if there are size restrictions. I've got a price based on the weight of the item but need to know if it will cost more if I put it in a larger pack. Sorry but I am really struggling to find my way around the new RM website.

You'd send the LLs via RM 2nd, 'cos it's cheaper, and the parcels via RM48? Or am I missing something?

Sizing only applies to domestic mail, so no difference for US.

There's still a size restriction (but not this small/medium parcel business): L+W+H<900mm, no side greater than 600mm.
