Do you have to put anything on them other than the stamps to the correct value?

I have to admit that I've just been chucking them in the postbox with the correct value of stamps on the days that I can't get to a post office, and don't seem to have had any problems. Would it make them be processed faster if I did write the code on next to the stamps?

I can't see why as they are machine read anyway.

I've never used any codes on mine.

Had a signed for item posted through the letterbox yesterday even though we were clearly in and visible in the front room as the light was on, so so much for them improving the signed for service!

I did wonder about this brand new and improved signed for service. Oh well back to the drawing board.

Same here, but it was left in the lobby! And the day before, I was in and the postman buzzed up, and said he would sign for it and leave it downstairs!

My postman went as far as knocking, handing me the parcel and saying "can't be bothered with the signature".

Item was a £100 item the seller had sent 2nd class signed for.

Does that include online pre-paid labels?

Those class as self stamped - so will be pulled.

I dont know if you 'need' to write on it, but just to make their life easier at the sorting office (and not possibly delay the parcel) I have had labels made up with:

    SMALL PARCEL
    SECOND CLASS
    £2.60 up to 1kg

the labels were £1.75 for 260 printed and delivered from ebay so under 1p each.

That way they know what value and service I am aiming at with the stamps (occasionally my stamps are a few pence over).

I have been doing this for about a year and regularly receive positive feedback the day after posting 2nd class this way so it certainly doesnt delay them if you do this.

Account (finally) opened last Thursday, PPI licence number too.

[rant]Trouble is, still no supplies (labels, ties, bags etc)

Had a lot of orders over the weekend, that all need to go out today.
If the supplies don't arrive today, this long drawn out process is going to cost me a/another small fortune![/rant]

How frustrating! At the very least you need ties, green 2nd class labels/red 1st class labels and International labels. I never received bags but I get mine from the local sorting office - a few at a time.

Since I started making my large second class stamps up from two values, the majority of my post arrives the day after posting. Apparently items with multiple stamps can't be sorted by machine and have to be sorted manually, so just get tossed in with the first class post. Also has the advantage of buyers being able to see exactly what postage costs.
