I'm looking through my stock for items over 8cm thick but not particularly heavy, many of which are low value items which will be unsaleable after the price increases. I don't have a Myhermes posting point in my area.
I don't even see how Royal Mail will profit from this: they are pricing themselves out of the parcel delivery market in areas well served by other couriers, so they'll end up with a far higher proportion of their parcels going to and from remote locations.
The only eBay sellers likely to profit significantly from these changes are those selling boxes which fit within the new dimension limits.
Don't forget the 6x6x6 inch cube exemption- that will save some of my larger items from being silly prices.
I'm expecting my stock of boxes to arrive tomorrow.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I dont think the prices are too much of a worry, it will just take time to adjust.
It doesnt just affect you, it affect everyone so the customers will just end up paying more for an item if they still want it.
When the dimentions began a lot of my suppliers changed the way their products are packaged to fit into a large letter, I think this will happen again so in 3 to 6 months time depending on production times in China a lot of product packaging will change shape to become either more flat or cubed to fit the 16 x 16 box.0 -

Soolin, will that size box be classed as a small parcel then ?
Sorry, found it now, but I am confused. If I sell a pair of curtains, they go in a mailing bag and measure less than 45 x 35 x 8 and weigh less than 2kg, can they go as a small parcel ?You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

It's about as clear as mud isn't it?
It is basically big and flat, or small and square....sort of.....I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Soolin - Do you know where sells 16 x 16 x 16 boxes that will fit at a good price? I've always found boxes to be really expensive.0

!!!!!!...I've managed to avoid looking at these til now. Ugh. Couriers are all well and good if you're on the mainland folks0

RM costs for my most common sale will jump 40%. Ridiculous, I'll go to another courier or stop selling on Ebay.0

I always buy mine on eBay, I've used this seller before but always check out others as the prices do fluctuate and this seller is currently charging a little postage.

Just be aware that if your post office is a bit anal like mine is, the box needs to slide straight through that slot (presuming they get one for parcels now), too much cellotape on a box on the limit and you'll be stung.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. I that case I might actually be better off in some cases, but other lines I sell will no longer be viable. No One is going to pay £5.20 postage on an item that costs less than £5You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
