Only if you are outside of a minimum period contract (ie you are on a "rolling monthly" deal), otherwise sky have taken over the contract and have the right to levy early termination fees in the same way o2 would have done.

I was told by o2 that as SKY were a new supplier I could terminate my contract at any time if I wished. But as I am getting 12 months at half price (£4.75) and £10 odd a month for a pre-paid 12 month deal for line rental with BT, I have not found anything cheaper as yet.

If your already a Sky TV customer the only thing they offer is free broadband for a year as long as they take over the line rental and that was after 2 hours on the phone talking to various people however last night I managed to get hold of the broadband team on a 0800 number and these people knew exactly what I was talking about in regards to the free tv + broadband for 12m for existing O2 broadband customers and the advise the pleasant lady gave was to disconnect the existing sky package in the wife's name and effect a new package in my name and if I pay for the line rental upfront for the year the next 12m would be bill'less..woohoo

    So I paid the £119.50 for the 12m line rental = £9.95 per month as this has saved me a bundle as I was paying Sky £28.75,BT £22.45,O2 £4.75 =£55.95 x 12 = £551.90 saved for the year.:j:j:j

    You were mislead!

    Who told you that?

Whenever you get advised a change to a contract to your advantage verbally you should get it confirmed in writing!

Your contract has been assigned to Sky, who take over the same rights as o2 had, including what you have to pay to get out early! They won't know anything about what you were told by o2 to keep you - and won't honour it!

Although I didn't believe them, I too (and a few others on this and similar threads) was told the same thing!
Still happy with my free internet for another 10 months, but might regret it once the transfer actually happens...

o2 were saying anything to prevent cancellation! You needed it in writing,

A verbal assurance you could cancel scot free won't be honoured by sky who have bought your contract at a good price for o2! (Why do you think they were happy to bribe us with free bb and the £200 credit?)

What was the 0800 number as in the same boat, Sky TV in wifes name, broadband in mine.
Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.

So why have i been experiencing slow downs too?
down to 3mbps at times from nearly 6mbps

I was just coming here to see if anyone else had found their o2 (Sky) broadband had slowed too, and I see I'm not the only one. I have never known it so slow with o2, even at busy times; and I've been with them for years. It's like being back with BTs broadband!

I just went onto speedtest.net and found that my download speed has dropped to 2.42mbps (from 11+ mbps normally with o2) and upload has dropped to 0.19 (from about 0.8+ normally with o2) I hope they crank it up a bit later on, ready for ebay bidding.

I'm so glad I didn't take up o2s offer of free 12 months broadband, as I couldn't take 12 months of this!

Time to start looking at some of those broadband offers that keep popping through my letterbox.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

I did take the 12 months free and £200 credit and left a month later when my FTTC was abled on my cabinet.

Plusnet are offering £100 if you take the phone and fibre with them.(through topcashback)

    Thanks for this.

When I was with BT, I was only getting 1mbps download speed and o2 could get 15mbps using LLU.

Virgin keep sending me through offers as thy have connected fibre optic cable to my street. Latest says half price until October plus a load of free tv channels (not sure I want tv channels though).
