Sky buyout of O2 Broadband

The move to Sky has taken place today. So far on wireless I'm getting 3.6mb and 0.5mb upload. This is down from a typical o2 speed of 5-6mb and 1mb upload minimum.
I hope this is just testing speeds/evening congestion otherwise I will be disappointed.0 -
What is the best deal(s) for broadband for those of us who do not wish to stay with sky broadband after they honour the o2 contract?
I was with BE and switched to Plusnet for £4.99 a month for the first 12 month (now 9 month I think) if you take the line rental saver with Plusnet too. And don't forget Topcashback...0 -
Finally got the £200 credit to my account, even though i jumped ship to go with Plusnet and FTTC.0

Just received email to switch to Sky early, free broadband, free Sky family (for 12 months) and £14.50 line rental (plus free Sky+HD box).'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

I got this email too. It looks too good to be true but I have callled them and they said it is a 12 month contract so you can leave after the 12 months if you want to. Its free installation too. I'm seriously considering it as I would love SKY box but won't pay for the package.2013 wins - Garnier BB cream, Bella Italia £60 meal voucher, Years supply Tetley tea. £100 :j0

Be careful it's harder to leave sky phone after 12 months as it's LLU on the exchange0

It's easy to leave, if you don't necessarily need to keep your number. And that's only LLU to LLU ports.0

My O2 broadband contract will end early July and called today to enquire about leaving, spoke to Gregg who didn`t even offer anything to stay, despite me saying I wanted to leave early because I didn`t want to go to sky. He just advised that as I had been with them for 5 years there would be no fee to end the contract early. Is this because the merger has all gone through now so they not bothered about the customers leaving??
Myself and partner are also with 02 for our mobiles and the landline so im now thinking that I will get giffgaff sims which will half our mobile costs and then look to going elsewhere for my broadband and landline..........basically 02 will have now lost all our custom which is such a shame as ive been with them on my mobile for longer than 5 years and have always been happy.

You really didn't think this though did you! Why would they offer you anything after telling them that you "wanted to leave early because I didn`t want to go to sky"?
Why didn't you ring last month before Sky bought O2's broadband customers?
You could have had one years free broadband and £200 credit added to your mobile account. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
