If you were an O2 Home Broadband customer then you will have been notified that your contract has been assigned to Sky Home Communications Limited who has agreed to perform all obligations under the contract. This does not affect the minimum term of your contract. For the time being, Sky Home Communications Limited will continue to supply your chosen O2 Home Broadband and home phone products on the same Terms & Conditions.
Nothing will change for you right away and for now you'll continue to get exactly the same home broadband and phone service (if you have it) as you do now and we will continue to supply your O2 or BE products under your current Terms & Conditions. We’ll give you at least one month’s notice plus some more reminders nearer to the transfer day and let you know when it’s time for your services to be switched over.
The only change you will notice is that with effect from 31 May 2013, Sky will collect your Direct Debits instead of O2/BE and therefore Sky Home Communications Ltd. will appear on your bank/building society statement.
There is no need for you to complete a new Direct Debit Instruction,
If you don’t have an O2 Home Phone or BE landline service currently, you won’t have to take these services with Sky.0 -

I telephoned them again today & spoke to one of their customer services team. He was pretty rubbish to be fair. He told me that I would have to pay a £35 cancellation fee if I wanted to leave. If ever you are verbally given new terms to a contract, (to your advantage, as this was), then you should ask for confirmation in writing!
Your original contract with o2 still exists, and they have (legally) assigned it to Sky.

I don't think O2 have been bothered or concerned for customers since they decided to sell out to Sky.
As for getting something in writing, I am going to ask them to check their phone logs, in particular the last time I contacted them regarding the switch over. I'm sure they will make any excuse under the sun why they can't check the call logs, but I'm going to be very insistant. Even if I have to get BT to send me an itemised list of calls I made in March.
Today I asked for their complaints department address. This will be who I send my concerns and requests to.0 -

We finally switched to Sky Broadband...£7.50 for Unlimited Internet, Evening and Weekend calls and line rental for 12 months. Happy with this deal. Funny thing is will be phoning o2 to cancel broadband when the switchover date arrives.
Apparently for none TV customers the actual cost should have been £10...as we have no Sky TV whereas the £7.50 is for TV customers...so got lucky there!0 -

Although as expected, no current 02 BB users will have to change their home phone to Sky, there is no guarantee that Sky will eventually charge more for a standalone BB connection with them , but make the BB cheaper if it is bundled with phone or TV , as many others do.

It would be attractive, but realistically we aren't going to get anything approaching the retention deals we have been getting with o2 over the years (unlimited, unrestricted, fast as possible on the line for the equivalent of £4.75/month (or less - currently free) for legacy customers with the mobile discount.
We either bite the bullet and become sky customers paying the going rate less any inducement to stop us moving, or move on, but nowhere else currently comes near what we have been getting at the price we been paying.
What are the suggestions for a similar reliable company in the budget price bracket?0 -
Only Plusnet is going to come close to a fiver a month (assuming an M2 or M3 exchange)-and that's just for the Essentials tariff, which is capped at 10GB.
O2 can't ever have made any money on their broadband product, given the level of discounting offered, so its not that surprising that sooner or later it was going to be sold on. How much will O2 have wasted installing their LLU equipment?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
