Sky buyout of O2 Broadband

I just tried, got a woman, and was told I'm still in contract (legacy) so no deal and I'll have to pay to leave. I mentioned that my son, who renewed at around the same time as me had be offered 12 months free, but she said she couldn't comment, as she had no access to his account and repeated what she said about paying up.
As the above, I took 6 months free, but my son had 12 months half price, so wonder if this has some bearing.
I'll try again later, especially as Sky taking over retentions was mentioned above.
Sounds like a similar position. Have they offered you a free 12 months if you upgrade from legacy? That is the other option. I'm not sure Sky retentions will be any good. Just tried calling for our home phone which we have with them...and it is a foreign call centre with staff who refuse to talk to me even though I know my partners details. Useless.0 -
She didn't offer anything.
I just tried again and got 'Steph' so put the phone down, as I didn't catch the name of the first female, though i think it was a different voice. My son only renewed in January.
If the next person is no help, i'm going to ask how much to leave and then say I'll get back when I've decided where to go (ie BT or Plusnet).0 -
Have you retried O2 retentions, robrymond ?0

Yes I spoke to o2 retentions...the only offer was 12 months free Broadband, free evening and weekend calls and line rental for £13 a month.
For me this seems a good deal...not as good as others but less than what I currently pay out! Legacy is now £9.50 a month and Sky line is £14.50.0 -
I realise that you spoke to retentions but did you try them again ?
Looking back (page 22?) in this thread, someone was on the point of paying after 6 months free and did get the 12 months free offer.
I've just tried again and got 'Sheila'. I renewed in January, so she says I can buy out, to leave or otherwise for £35, then take a 12months free with £100M&S voucher, staying on my legacy contract.
She said that's the best she can do, yet the other said buy out was the only option.0 -
Sorry £35 for 12 months free was that? Slightly confused by the post. I will be trying again later this evening after my partner speaks to Sky about our home phone line. As that will dictate what we want from o2.0

She wanted me to pay £35, applied to my account, to end my contract, which began on January 3rd, then take out a new one, giving 12 months free and a £100 M&S voucher. She said I could stay on my legacy provision.
I think I should have agreed, but panicked and said I'd think about it. I'd pay £35, to get £100 of vouchers, but already have some unspent M&S vouchers. Also, I worried whether a bought out legacy contract could result in a new legacy one.0 -

I think I will be leaving o2 too. I think their customer service has gone downhill.0
