Something isn't right about this deal. Something isn't being talked about and why cancel the converged core project?

Sky want people in contracts for a reason - what it is, who knows.

Massage the facts and it shows a loyal customer base; in addition, many of those customers (like me!) have been with o2 for a few years so indicates a long term relationship. Put that in a shiny presentation...

But: I totally agree with you. Something smells about this whole thing.

The only consolation I draw is that if I cancel after a few months, and ask for a MAC key, how can they possibly penalise me?
  • has anyont thought to ask for the specific TERM AND CONDITIONS relating to you NEW contract of 12months free?

has anyone had the E-MAIL to confirm the package deal that has the terms and cons in them?

i want to look over them for myself as i dont want to be locked to sky if i take the offfer and cannot get out of it when they change over sometime before christmas this year.

why are people assuming this new deal conforms to their existing contract? surely its a NEW contract and thus must have altered terms and cons from your previous contract.

why are poeple jumping on the wagon for the 12 months free thinking theres a get out free card?
  • Yes they can as you have to en buy out of the deal at the full price buy out rate they set.

I would like so see what contract they are issuing with this deal and let's get it posted on here so people can comb over it and spot any potential issues.

I wish I could believe its loyal customers they want but all these paying you to stay deals are really fishy

This is the T&C sent when I accepted their offer of 12 months free BB.

Seems to be exactly the same as is currently on their website.

  • Just tried to get the 12 months free broadband this evening and got told they'd send a mac code and a jiffy bag for the the router
I told them that I wasn't happy about going to Sky as I actually moved my broadband to O2 from Sky. They weren't even slightly interested in offering me 12 months free never mind the mobile credit.

I've got a a contract phone and have been a customer for years. Broadband contract is up for renewal in May.

Would welcome any suggestions as I think calling again tomorrow might be worth a try.

Just make sure you actually speak to retentions by going through the leaving option. You probably just got Chris who seems to be doing his best to get rid of everyone. ;)
  • so as i thought, they will still charge you the service rate upon termination of the contract, so those who are getting the deal once they switch to another provoder will have to pay the going rate and ofcourse early termination fee, those who stick to their guns and if sky cant provide contract terms originally set out will probably be able to get out free.
  • Yes but it depends on what Sky do and how they do it.

I guess they could leave everyone as they are until its time to renew contracts - then start offering new ones on their network. Otherwise they may just want to move customers over to their network - which makes the most management and cost sense for Sky.

Leaving isn't going to be that simple I fear.

I did make sure I was through to retentions - no point speaking to anyone else! I spoke to Colin though - hopefully get someone else when I try tomorrow.
