I did a physical speed check with neighbours either side and Sky was slower than my O2 line.
I have a MAC and O2 were fine, I just didnt want to go to Sky so having researched PlusNet is for me0 -

Run a speed test and then wack in your post code. It will compare yours to others locally and show you what speeds have been recorded.
I wouldn't trust the results on that site. They don't differentiate between ADSL and FTTC. The site tells me I could get 11Mb down and 3Mb up with BT, which is complete tosh, because it also take into account the speeds of people who have BT Infinity/FTTC.
Even BT's checker tells me I can get a speed of ~7Mb, which is what I'm getting now on Sky.0 -

Hi
Just did a speed test. My Be results are d/l 10.56 M/bs, up/l 0.949 Mb/s. Locally the only faster speeds are BT 13.89 Mb and Plusnet 16.51 Mb. I might check out Plusnet.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -
I am on the legacy broadband package with o2. I have been with them for 4 years. Like everyone else I am very unhappy about the sky takeover, as have always been very happy o2 broadband.
I renewed my contract in January for another 12 months and am paying 9.39 a month. I also paid Bt for line rental saver last November on my home phone.
I have only just heard about the 12 free broadband offer. Is it still available. If they called my bluff and gave me a mac code would I have to use it, as I don't want to leave at the moment, if not I will ring up & hopefully get this offer.0 -

You don't have to use a mac code, you can allow it to lapse (30 days I think), go for it'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
I have just rung up and the person I spoke to was called Chris and said I wanted to leave, but he did'nt offer me anything. He basically said that it will take between 12-18 months before anything happens, and that everything will stay the same until then. I asked if they could offer me any deal for staying and he mentioned that I had a new deal in January. I just had to accept what he said as there was'nt really any further i could go with it.0

Did you ask for a mac0 -
Did you speak specifically to retentions and ask for your MAC? Speaking to 'normal' CS will not get you the offer as they don't have that authority.
If they don't believe that you really mean to leave, then of course you won't be offered a deal.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Yes I did speak to retentions and asked for my mac code. The person I spoke to said he that he was unable to offer me anything as I had a deal at the end of January. I could tell that there was no way he was going to offer me the free broadband so I had to leave it. I was just unlucky with the person I ended up speaking to.0
