Sky buyout of O2 Broadband

No I would think not.
I don't get why Sky or O2 won't just tell people what many seem to have surmised. I think they are vague and don't answer this question because this will send many more for the exit.
How do people go about ensuring that their data can't be used for marketing purposes or sold on? That's one way to hit Sky.0 -
Okay, just phoned them again.
They said the 12 months free period is not a minimum contract and I am free to leave at anytime?0 -
I have to say I'm confused now. I have accepted the O2 12 month free offer only at the understanding that I definitely will NOT have to change my telephone line (for which I have paid 12 month in advance to BT). The O2 customer service I talk to was very clear about that. Surely, forcing us to have a Sky line would be a breach of T&C allowing u to leave without charge?
PS: they also told me I that when the actual SKY transfer take place I should be able to leave0 -
It does seem that confusion rains over this contract - 12 months contracts are fairly clear. Read the contract that your agreeing to. The rep told me yesterday "people are agreeing new 12 month contracts so Sky have to honour them".
Sounds to me like 12months to me. Releases fees are in the contract.
I thought that was a break clause but as was pointed out to me by a legal expert he said its a BB contract and not a landline one. If they take over the contract but then say your service requires a Sky line - then you get into grey areas.
I don't fancy any such battles so will be off.
The o2 rep would noy answer the Sky line question the many times I asked and in the different ways I put it.
I'm not convinced this discount will be honoured either.0 -
Remember these o2 sales people / staff are going back to o2 so won't be around if any such issues arise.
Its hardly honest cancelling the converged core when there are many exchages all over the UK to go. I thought it was "business as usual"?0 -
The letter says:
Finalised deal in a few weeks
Nothing will change right away
Broadband moving to Sky later this year
Plenty of notice before switching over
They are working closely with Sky for a smooth un-disrupted service
Meanwhile we still have a service. (many FREE + credit/voucher)
(I'd rather keep my BT line to save getting stuck in the confusing telephone exchange loop affair)

Just phoned o2 to ask how i go about moving my landline from them to bt,i didnt mention the broadband as i am 3 months into a contract with them, guy on the phone mentioned an offer of free broadband for the 12 months if i stayed.
I now have the free broadband and am happy with that as we had been looking at sky before i renewed with them anyway so result for me.
I was out of contract for my landline but not broadband.:)0 -
A quick question:
How do I check if they've given me the 100GBP credit? Many thanks! Can't find it in My O2.0 -
-
But what does later in the year mean? That could be next month for all we know.
Remember o2 staff are leaving the business to go back to o2 so sky will be in charge.
The converged core was meant to be part of the deal but look how this seems to have now changed.
Those discounts are worthless considering that line in the contract that says they can be removed at any time.0
