In the process of opening one of these accounts they are asking for employer details, are these relevant and do I have to give them as the page won't continue without?
I cannot ever recollect having to give these details before for current or savings accounts.

Some posters on this forum have left a week between opening their first and second flexdirect accounts and they have opened straight away. Others they have applied for have taken longer and required a letter to be signed and dated stating you have read the terms and conditions.
They have a new system of applying for the flexdirect, you click on I am already a Nationwide customer and redirects you to the correct screen. I presume you have internet banking, if not the screen will give instructions on what to do."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0 -

Yes I have internet banking, I logged in and started the application, but as I mentioned above they want employer details, I dislike giving out info that I do not see as relevant, but having just phoned Nationwide they tell me that it is part of their credit scoring and if I do not provide it then they will not be able to process the application.
I also asked about opening up more than one account and receiving the 5% interest on all, he was quite adamant that it cannot happen under the same name and address and the system would pick it up, only one interest paying account per person.
So all of you that have more than one account paying 5%, have you opened them all using the same details? i.e. same name and address for all accounts? Because Nationwide say it cannot happen!
From their FAQs: - ? Can I open more than one FlexDirect account? You can open up to four Nationwide current accounts, however you are only guaranteed the 5% AER promotional interest rate on one FlexDirect account.

Not quaranteed is the words you should focus on. Up to now we have all be paid the 5% on all our accounts. If it stops well we will all be looking for a new home for the money that does not pay the 5%.
Could you not put self employed or home worker whatever the answers are in the list of occupations."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0 -
I used 'homemaker' on my applications. Accepted without issue.Herman - MP for all!0

Already have one of these accounts, looking to open a second one. Is there a preferred way to do this?
Should I open a new account online, go in branch, open a different type of account and then upgrade to flexdirect?
Any suggestions?0 -
I just opened a second one online and had no problems.i was logged in to my account to do this.:T0

FlexDirect is all about online and self-service - so it follows that you apply online, doesn't it?0
