Angelmommy .... I totally understand your post... I had an early scan, saw the heart beat etcand now have a second one on tuesday and I'm more than petrified that it will be bad news. One minute I tell myself 3rd time lucky and next I'm thinking why should the 3rd time be any different... talk about an emotional roller coaster! !!

Thanks for your reply amus. It's reassuring that other people have felt pain like this. It's certainly not very painful, just slightly uncomfortable and there's no bleeding. I have been checking my knickers *alot* and also doing lots of tests (I know, I know). I really should try to let things be and 'que sera, que sera' and so on but I'm finding it difficult.. I think the mentality given that if I am to miscarry or have an ectopic, then nothing I can do now will stop it should help, so thank you.

I have already booked my scan for 7 weeks 2 days (since LMP, although I had a long cycle this month so it will only be probably just over 3 weeks since conception) but may call and change it. I'm looking forward to my first MW appt in just over 3 weeks time.

How many weeks are you? When did you first hear the heart beat on your Doppler? I think I will get one as they're so cheap and I'm quite scientific so would be able to cope with not being able to catch it all the time.

I'm 14 weeks now, first heard hb at 10 weeks. A good pointer is at that stage baby is just above the pubic bone, so start really low down!

I second this. I found hb at 10 + 4 with my Doppler. Start very low down and listen for a hb about double the speed of your own. You will hear your own heartbeat and also the placenta which is a kind of whooshing sound! I can hear baby moving round now and kicking the Doppler which is deafening!! I'm 13 + 2 now x

And I'm back. That was a lovely weekend. I think I caught something. There is no way that was morning sickness starting at 11 weeks and lasting a day or 2. Lol. Ah well. Nice to be able to eat again :D just taking it steady to begin with.

Congrats to all the BFP's :)

I personally wouldn't recommend a Doppler for anyone who even slightly worries and needs an early scan. Sorry. But you'll just get yourself worried that you can't find the heartbeat. Sorry to be blunt but I just don't want you to worry even more for no reason. You can't hear the heartbeat unless your over 9 weeks anyway.

I'm off to London on Thursday to go to the international cake show on Saturday :) really looking forward to it. Plus taking the girls to the natural history museum on Friday. Only thing I'm not looking forward to in the 5hr drive there and 5hrs back

Toooldforthis - argh I'm becoming the same. I've fought (with myself) to not have any early scans this time but have my 12wk scan a week tomorrow. Excited and very nervous at same time! Hubby and I had decided to take our girls along as its a PD day for them and they don't know we're pregnant yet but I'm so worried (esp now hubby can't come) that something will be wrong, I'm tempted to leave them outside until sonographer has checked! Silly because found baby's heartbeat again last night so know (at the mo) that he/she is fine. I think having a missed miscarriage between the girls is now making me paranoid without bleeding! Have decided I will listen for baby's heartbeat Sunday night and Monday morning - hope I find it!

We can only make our own decisions about early scans - but I think it just changes what you worry about rather than stop worrying.

I was recommended to have an early scan (5 weeks) as I had had surgery to clear tubes which can increase chances of eptopic. The FS then told me to come back the following week to check for heartbeat (6 weeks).

I then wanted another one between then & NHS scan. As the FS was on holiday in the middle it meant the scan was at about 8.5 weeks. I have been desparate for another reassurance scan since but have used ALL my willpower not to. By this point I paid for 3 x £180 private appts (although now found out health ins will pay 75% back :money:)

Logical tells me that I haven't had any bleeds, have a baby bump forming (which is different to usual fat belly!), have felt good on some days & pants on others (although nauseous at some point on most) & more tired than usual which are all pregnancy signs. I know it doesn't mean all is OK though.

Statistics also tell me that whilst many things can go wrong, after seeing all was well at 8.5 weeks, things are more likely to go right.

HOWEVER, I worry every day about the pregnancy & what could happen from here on in.

    Whoops - hadn't finished.

neneromanova - I've got 6 hours driving tomorrow (work related). Hoping I'm OK as I seem to feel rough when travelling at the moment. I've got a couple of colleagues in the car.

Dull day today as I need to spend most of the day completing my final uni report (yawn). The sun is out & I want to play out!

    Have a good day all.

Exactly.. I am 19 weeks in a couple of days and I still have frights when I think of how much could still go wrong.. get used to it.. that fear never goes away... once they arrive it becomes fear of SIDs, then it becomes abduction, crime, molestation, sex offenders, natural disasters, illnesses, disabilities.. when they leave home you still continue.. from here on in you are a neurotic loon!!

TTC40 - I totally agree, think we have to do whatever helps us get through these 12wks with the least worry. I hope this isn't too negative but the massive plus point for having an early scan with my mc was that I had a picture, proof my baby existed. I had unfortunately, used a digi pregnancy test (and didn't take a photo) so the photo's are all I have.

Neneromanova - I agree to some extent about dopplers too; I have only found baby twice but have used it prob 8 times. You could easily become paranoid that something was wrong. I did, however, spend hours reading so many reviews/blogs etc so have luckily not panicked on the occasions when I couldn't find it. Baby can be too low/back turned/ we can be too gassy/too full/bladder too full - the list goes on. The earliest I could find it was 10+1 and then again at 10+5.

TTC40 - I know we are due date buddies so assume you must be having your scan next week too? Mine is exactly 12wks - so pleased we're nearing the end!

Good luck with all the driving ladies - hope the weather is nice so you can at least have windows open. x
