Less than 12 weeks pregnant club! Part 3

I know exactly what you mean Purcy!
I'm a teacher, I teach challenging teenagers ,behaviour wise. There are times when we have to physically restrain students, so I'm not sure how that's going to work with pregnancy. I'm also dreading telling the Head because I've only been there a year and am the only teacher of my subject as well as part of management.
The plan is to get to the 2nd week of feb, by which time i'll be 10-11wks and tell the head before half term, when my 12 wk scan will be. But, my sister who also works in education, thinks I should tell him asap due to the nature of the students, not that there's much they can do about that! The other alternative, is to pay for a private early scan at 8 weeks and then tell the Head.
Hmmmmmmmm tricky! This of course may depend on how big I am by then. Having been on a strict wedding diet, it's blatantly obviously I'm now bigger!

That's roughly where I think I am.
Who ever asked about the cramping pains I was really worried about them but when I saw the midwife she said its normal as long as no heavy bleeding. I had them up until about a week ago and now only get them occasionally. Midwife said its stretching pains. So try not to worry.
Told my in laws over Christmas who are happy but did say how quick it was considering we only got married in September lol.
Well I'm 8 + 4 today and symptoms really seem to have died down well apart from still having very sore boobs. Still painful to lie on my front.
Hope everyone's ok. I just can't wait for scan now.0 -

It's nice to read that many of you are experiencing the same symptoms as myself. The cramps, wind and constipation. Makes me feel a little reassured that there is less to worry about. Untill I get a scan though I think I will always be a little worried.

First appointment for the midwife isn't until 20th January, it's ages away already!
I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow! x0 -
Hi all. I'm still here, mostly lurking as I'm getting myself a bit worried and didn't want to start obsessing too much and bringing the thread down.

Welcome to the new ladies who have joined since I last posted.
Thinking of you Robots if you're still reading, hope you are ok, hope to see you on the other thread soon.
I'm another who's had terrible pain from trapped wind. I've been rolling on the floor with pain it's been so bad. My pg friend had trapped wind so bad she went to A&E as she thought it was something seriously wrong. She said it was worse than labour pain!

For the safety of you and your baby, I'd get an early scan and tell them ASAP. I work in a psychiatric unit where we often have to restrain patients, so as soon as I had my scan at 7+5 I told work and got moved to a quieter ward that is a lot less physically draining and there is no risk of having to get involved in restraint. I wasn't happy at first but then was really grateful for the move as I was shattered all the time!0 -
I don't know about you but I am totally constipated at the moment and I think thats where a lot of the cramps and pains are from, that and trapped wind which can be agonising! I've also had sharp ones, period like ones, dull ones, throbbing ones the whole works! QUOTE]
I had this from the beginning and indeed still do now. I told my Dr and I was given some suagry solution I believe it is called Lactoulose or soemthing like that. I have a spoon with my dinner and this is enough to keep things 'moving'.3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

Thanks Sunshine for your reply.
I am very nervous about telling work, even more so about telling them before 12 weeks. If I had a scan at 7+5 and things were ok, is there a good chance they will continue to be? I'm just nervous of telling work too early in case something happens.

iv just got some lactulose on the midwives advice, not started taking it yet because I wasn't sure how much to take! it says between 15-45mls, so I think I'll just start off like you are doing with one spoon. my stomachs been so sore today and I'm sure it's cos of constipation, it's horrible!0 -

Obviously there are never any guarantees, something could happen at any stage not just in the first 12 weeks. But I'm sure I've read that seeing the heartbeat early on lowers the chance of a mc.
This is on the Miscarriage Association website:
Research has shown that if you see a heartbeat at 6 weeks of pregnancy, the chances of the pregnancy continuing are 78%.
A heartbeat at 8 weeks increases the chance of a continuing pregnancy to 98% and at 10 weeks that goes up to 99.4%.
So things could still go wrong and sadly sometimes do, but as long as there is a heartbeat, the risk of miscarriage decreases as the weeks go by.0
