Congrats on your scan Carrie sounds lovely.
I had my booking in appointment today. It was supposed to be an hour but, due to a mix up, I'd only been booked half an hour. Luckily everything was very straightforward so it was plenty of time. I'm classed as low risk so that was a huge relief. My blood pressure was fine and my BMI below 25 (despite a few pounds gained already ) so I was just being a bit hysterical worrying so much about it.
My nausea seems a lot better today, but of course instead of being pleased I'm using it as another reason to worry0 -
Thanks Carrie for the reassurance. Finally got my booking in appointment for Monday. Hoorah! I was told to book my 12 weeks scan before visiting the midwife and given a number which I rang only to be told by the scan people that I need to see the midwife first. Confusing or what?
OH andI havent told anyone yet, so we have decided to get a private scan the week before Christmas (Friday 20th, around 9.5 weeks) as we are visiting his parents that weekend and wanted to tell them then, but didn't feel comfortable without having some kind of secondary confirmation. We visited his parents a few weeks ago and fained a cold to get out of drinking. Problem was his Mum then made me a hot toddy which I said I would drink in bed (had to then go to bed at 9pm). Poor OH then had to neck down a cold hot toddy when he came to bed. Dont think I can go through all that phaff again the week before Christmas! Just want it out in the open.
Also, anyone else been...how do I put this..a little windy? Cut out most carby things, but still doing trouser trumpets like there is no tomorrow. Trapped wind sucks!
So good to see everyones scans.0 -
Just kinda jumping in here for a moment, my BMI is 47, and I was told by my midwife that the 400mg was plenty. There isn't really enough evidence that taking more aids in uptake, but if it's prescribed, it is a water soluble vitamin, so any that your body doesn't need, it will come out in your wee.
hth!

How high is your BMI anyway? Mines 40 (which came as a shock as I thought it was about 36 ha ha)B]
Thankyou ladies! My BMI is 36, (and I've lost 8lbs since becoming pregnant!), so since I don't have extra folic supplements any where as low as 5mg I won't take extra. But I'm less worried now about accidentally possibly having taken 2 pregnancy vitamins on a couple of days.:pPlease forgive the badly spelt alias... Hugs Adrenalina. I second everything aquamarine monkey said.
Congratulations carrie! I'm hoping it'll feel more real for us after our scan. Thankyou also for saying how long it took... It's reassuring to know not everyone is there 2 hrs! Husband is literally panicking he might be kept from work for so long, plus travel time. Please forgive the badly spelt alias... Just delurking to say this really made me laugh as i had the most horrible wind in the first trimester - so much so that a couple of times i trumped in the middle of the night and it was so heinious it woke DH up and he had to leave the room! lol
It's all part of the hormones slowing your digestion down, should get better once you're past 12 weeks. now my trumps don't smell anywhere near as bad but i can't stand up without doing one
