We are all right podgies then. It is hard to choose what to wear when most things feel a little 'tight'.
I am on day two of taking the iron tablets and the taste in my mouth is a tad better today.
I thought £60.00 was good for a scan, I thought some people paid over £100.
Hope your not feeling too panicky today Sophiasmum - I am one great big panic station at the moment.3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

Thanks SamToby - had a couple of 'moments' today and been constantly going to the loo to check all is ok!
Debs078 - I came back high risk for downs syndrome in my last pregnancy on bloods alone (No nuchal fold test in my area) - I was 33. I was unprepared for the result and it basically ruined my pregnancy as I didn't want an amnio. Just be very sure what you would do if you got a high result - I hadn't really thought about it. I wont be having the test as at the grand old age of 38 I can only assume my results would be worse!!
Just had a bargain in Tesco - their 30 day supply of Tesco own multi pregnancy vitamins are reduced to £1.50! I bought 2 packs (That's thinking positive isn't it?!)
VickyViks - the bedtime is getting earlier - Im off now!0 -
I am looking into booking an early reassurance scan for 8-9weeks and have come across BabyBond (http://www.ultrasound-direct.com/babybond-pregnancy-scans/) who are a national company but do have a centre in Notts.
Does anyone have any experience of them?
Should I notify the midwife I am going to do this or does that not matter?
One of my friends had a scan there and highly recommended it, I plan to get a scan there further down the line.I was hideously sick for months first time round, 'just' really really bad nausea and terrible taste in the mouth second time... both boys!
I really hope so! Have a horrible niggly feeling its a girl thoughAnother one who is super thirsty here - only trouble is needing to wee constantly!
samtoby - could you try nibbling something with quite a strong, distinctive taste to get rid of the nasty taste? I'm thinking pickled onions, lemon slices, that kind of thing!
Afm, POAS this morning....It was the Clearblue digi - just wanted to see it had gone up to 3+ on the conception indicator (which it had), so feel slightly happier now.
Also, today's post contained a letter from the midwife and my first appointment for booking in is on 10 October when I'll be a day under 8 weeks. Apparently I will need to decide where to have my baby by then(!). Do any Notts people know if QMC or City Hospital are meant to be any different?
5 + 40 -
Becs city has a much better reputation for maternity care, I had my son there and apart from a brief emergency right before he came out everything went very well, my midwife was wonderful and I had a waterbirth, it was everything I had hoped for. At qmc on the other hand imsuffered extreme medical negligence which was the most traumatic experience of my life I'd rather give birth in a gutter than that awful place.
You can go for a tour of the wards to getba feel of which one is right for you x0 -
Popping my head in again...
:T
I got my BFP over the weekend, think i am 4+5 today. Dead nervous after my MC but trying to stay positive...
No real symptoms but never had any with DD or my MC so I guess I will have to just take each day at a time.
Will be booking a private scan too like other ladies on here for around 8-9 weeks.. I haven't even called the docs yet to get referred to midwife... there is no realy point just yet, I will call in a couple of weeks time. By that time I will be over 6 weeks which is my first milestone to get to with no hiccups!!
Nice to be back on this thread (again)!!Sealed Pot Challenge Member #8810 -

Thanks for this, it is very hard as I've heard several people say awful and then fabulous things about both! I think you are right that I need to go and see them to make the decision x.0 -
Yeay Gopppers! Many congratulations and hoping for a sticky for you this time. Can understand you must be very nervous x.0

Hi everyone. Can I join it too? I'm 6 + 2 today and this will be my second child if all goes well.
Becs I had my little girl at QMC 2 yrs ago and I am definitely going back there this time. I had a 3rd degree tear, severe blood loss which nearly resulted in me bleeding to death and I ended up spending a week in the high dependency unit. Everyone one I met, consultants, nurses, physio etc were great. My DH and I felt totally supported which is what I needed after such a traumatic experience.
You're right though, the more people you talk to the more differing opinions you'll get. Have a look at the websites, try to book a tour and you'll know where is best for you.Good luck

Eiteews - Really pleased that your scan went well
Hope to follow you to the 12+ thread soon
phoenix - welcome and congrats
On the subject of pregnacare - thought I'd mention that I bought that last time around and after only a few days, had very painful constipation and wind. Really painful! Had to stop taking them and moved over to sonatogen where I've had no problems. Just thought I'd mention as I know some people mention toilet trouble when pregnant and it could be down to them not agreeing with the tablets they're taking
samtoby - £60 for a provate scan is great. It's just under the £100 everywhere around here. We have a baby bond (can't remember if it was you who asked), but I've never used it. Used 2 different places locally, one, an nhs hospital doing private scans and then this time, a private hospital (as the nhs one has stopped doing the early scans), I've heard really good things about baby bond here in Newcastle though.....
Not keeping up with names at all today - on the cubs thing too, yes, I had a blood sample taken at my 12 week scan last time around in additional to measuring the nuchal fold to provide the most accurate result. Not to be confused with the blood test they can take at 16 weeks if you're too late for the nt scan (measuring the neck fold) with the blood test........ Hope that helps
becs - pleased that you've booked an early scan - it really will help put your mind at easeYou know that hospitals do tours of their maternity wards? You could ring and get a look at both before deciding. I had a choice of two, but one hospital is all private rooms so that was a decision maker for me. Glad I choose that too, as I was there a week after having my son, so having my own room and bathroom was a god-send.... :rotfl:
sophiasmum - there's a new alternative to an amnio but is only available privately. It's called a harmony test where they take blood and ship it off to the usa for analysis. I already know that's the road I'd go down if we found ourselves with a decision. It's about £500-£600 but to me would be worth the money than risk even that 1% chance of miscarrying...... thought I'd mention the test as it's quite new and I don't even think it was around in 2011 when I was pregnant with my son. I certainly didn't know about it then but then our result was fine so I didn't need to research any more.....
Goppers! Hey hey, congrats! I think we were around about the same time last time too - you have one already? My son came in Jan 2012. Hope everything goes well and that your 12 weeks fly by
svsandy - congrats and welcome :wave:TTC #3..........0
