*sticks head round the door*
Morning everyone
I'm Phoenix, mummy to one 20 month old girl and recently found I'm expecting number two. I think I'm nearly eight weeks along, so due early May. At my surgery you have to see the doctor so they can refer you on to the midwife so I've done that but haven't heard from the MW yet.
I've been getting marginal waves of nausea that come and go but I didn't get any morning sickness at all with my daughter so I'm hoping it stays as it is! I've not long started a new job (internal move at work) so the timing of all of this is typically sod's law but I'm super excited to be pregnant again
Looking forward to getting to know you all and sharing the journeyx

Sophiasmum - I am a bit podgy round the belly!
Went round OH mums' last night. How I didn't vomit I really don't know.
OH has said we can get a private scan so will go Thursday 17th October. It is £60.00 which I thought was quite reasonable!
Have a good day girls

Congrats faith2009uk on getting to the 12 week marker - you must be so excited about your scan
Welcome to phoenix7
I am another one looking more podgy than usual at the moment - definitely bloat not bump though but some of my clothes feel too tight already!.0 -
Welcome Phoenix!
I'm with you on the bloat not bump! My clothes still fit, but I feel about 2 sizes bigger. Surprised no one has made any weight gain comments!
On the countdown to scan, a week tomorrow :j
Are any of you ladies getting CUBS screening? I decided to get it and now wondering if I'm doing the right thing, a bit worried my age (34) will push the score up and I'll end up high risk and worrying anyway.
Still havent shared our news yet but will need to soon as I'm going to take my Mum along to the scan as OH cant get time off work0 -
Faith2009uk Congratulations on getting to 12 weeks. I really can't wait to reach that point. I'm hoping my symptoms go away and I can really start to enjoy being pregnant
.
Sophiasmum 9.30pm:eek: You are just a crazy stop up! The last two nights I've been asleep by 8pm :rotfl:. I just can't seem to get enough sleep at the moment.
Phoenix7 Welcome to the board and congratulations on your pregnancy.
Samtoby £60 seems really good compared to other prices I have heard of.
Debs0778 I've still got to have my first midwife appointment. What is a cubs scan?
I'm definitely more podgy. I think it is a bit of bloating and a bit of weight gain due to eating more dry toast and crackers than usual to try to get rid of the constant sick feeling. If I eat anything with too strong a flavour I get really strong waves of nausea. Tried to eat gammon the other day but the smell of it cooking put me right of eating anything...until I got really hungry and yet more beans on toast.
I think I'm going to have to defer doing my AAT until after the baby is born. I keep trying to study and I just can't concentrate and take in the information. As the level 3 is costing the company nearly £2000 I really don't want to risk failing...which at this point I think is likely. Ah its all fun and games.
Hope everyone is having a lovely Wednesday. It's chucking it down here so I am very glad to have already walked the dog.0 -
VickyViks, CUBS stands for Combined Ultrsound & Biochemical Screening - I think it might be a Scottish thing. As well as measuring the Nuchal fold they do bloods too and then predict whether your high/low risk for Downs. I've read the mothers age is a factor....always something to worry about.0

I had extra bloods taken at my dating scan with my first pregnancy along with the nuchal testing so they do it in England too. I didn't know it as CUBS though. I'll probably have it done again this time, it's non-invasive (apart from the vampire bit) and I think it's good to know. At least you can prepare yourself if it suggests you may be high risk. I'm 32 now so my age is starting to play on my mind but I know I'm still fairly young, in the grand scheme of things! Can't remember what my stats came back as with my first pregnancy but I think they were pretty low risk so fingers crossed it'll be the same again.0
