Oohh, I have some dates now! 23rd March for my booking appointment and 2nd April for my scan, so exciting! Poppy, I'm sure you're fine to eat takeaway I would just stay away from prawn as I think they carry the most bacteria if it isn't cooked etc. xx
  • I really hope it's OK to eat Chinese, as it's the one thing I've been craving more than anything and have had about 3 in the past month (not very MSE I know!)

    Hi all,

Just a quick question - is it still ok to eat takeaway (Chinese or Thai) whilst pregnant?

    Thanks.

Hope you're all well and staying safe in this weather!

Thank you :). Her control used to be appalling (teenager with diabetes isn't always a good thing!) but she's slowly got this under control over the years. Unfortunately she had a bad couple of weeks a few weeks back but this would be right at the start so hopefully not too much of a problem. Not a lot she can do about it now anyway so I've already said there's no point worrying about it now. She's been well controlled the last week (apart from the illness overnight) which would just be starting the embryonic stage.

Since she's known she is pregnant she's already changed her eating habits which is great. She's out milk chocolate which was a treat but did cause her readings to spike and has the occasional square of dark.

She's getting worried when her readings creep up to 8.5 at work but I really don't think that's bad considering the nature of her job as a nurse and she quickly boluses a small amount to get it back down again.

Certainly having lots more hypo's which is interesting! Bit scary when I'm not around as I know they are now more common so hopefully she stays aware of them.

She had downloaded the local Trust's diabetic pregnancy schedule which suggests an early scan but was told this won't be happening so I guess 12 weeks it is.

She has told work already due to the diabetes and wanting to rest her blood sugar regularly. Most of the other nurses and staff now know and are already helping her out which is great, even if it is still very early! :j

I need to get my !!!! in gear and finish this DIY :rotfl::eek:

Hi there - another diabetic here. Sorry you've had mixed experiences with the NHS so far. I can't add much more than an9i, but yeah tight control of blood sugars is the answer. FWIW I had a week on a continuous monitor to see how my sugars were behaving and they were talking about putting me on a pump if it wasn't great. If she's not on a pump already, it might be worth investigating as (I believe) it makes things a bit easier.

Hi Neneromanova - could you add me please? Think my EDD is 2nd Nov.
No sickness at all here to report - never had it on previous 2 pregnancies (which were girls) though I think a lot of people get it around the 7 week mark which Im yet to get to.
Actually phoned Drs yesterday - apparently they tell Midwife next Monday (?!) and then midwife will contact me to arrange a home visit for booking in. Seems a bit long winded - has def changed since my last pregnancy.
