I am also very anxious. I think I expected to 'feel' pregnant. I know its early days, the only thing I have noticed is boobs are sore and I feel a little queasy when I first wake.
I cant help but worry that it will go wrong - does that worry ever go?

Anyway hope everyone has some lovely plans for the bank holiday x

Maybe I am still shocked myself..

When I first found out at around 4 weeks I was really really tired and had to have naps all the time, I now feel sick if I don't eat in the mornings but haven't physically been sick yet. I'm now 8 weeks and don't have many symptoms other then weeing more and waking in the night to wee... won't get scan til 12-13 weeks so suppose it will feel more real then. I have told my family and my close friends but waiting til scan to tell anyone else, just hope the next few weeks fly in as I don't like waiting as it makes me anxious.

I've gone on a bit but don't really have anyone who understands, none of my friends have kids :( they listen and offer support but they haven't experienced it before.

That may be pretty much all the symptoms you do get, at least in the first 12 weeks... I'm 10 and a half weeks and other than bra size being noticably different, and a short term hightened sense of smell, you're describing my first few weeks so sounds fine to me.

A fetal doppler could help, they're not really supposed to detect heartbeat till in 2nd trimester, but with one which cost £20, I found mine at 8+4 and that really helped make it feel real, especially as when I did I only actually tried because I was convinced there was a problem so it had never occured to me I'd hear anything at all, but found it instantly. I keep checking every few days, sometimes I can find it and others I can't. It's easy to worry when you can't find it, so it's not ideal, but then given that on NHS you have to wait till 12 weeks to find out all's ok, when you think there's a problem at say 7 weeks that really is a long time to wait so a doppler was the cheapest way around that that I could think of and it really is exciting when you do hear it:)

I wondered whether the worry goes, but I think that probably when you stop worrying about one thing you start worrying about another instead. That probably remains for the rest of it's entire life so I'm trying to learn to stop worrying now:) Now that I think my baby's alive, I'm worrying about Down's, or perhaps some other serious health problem. It makes me think back to all the times I've heard people say that they just want it to be healthy and think I understand that like never before.

Just as I managed to drift off last night the smell of bacon came in from outside, so of course I immediately threw up. Had to move into the spare room as the bedroom stunk, god knows who was cooking it at like 9pm and they must have been making a production line it was so strong!

Claire, I hope your scan goes well today... Not to freak you out but I wonder if there are twins in there as your symptoms are so bad. I really hope you start to feel better soon! X

The way I am right now I don't think I will stop worrying until the little one is out!

The thought has crossed my mind I can't lie but that really would terrify me so I'm really hoping we see just the one little bubba today! X

It is life as a parent Im afraid - you never stop worrying even when your LO is a big strapping rugby playing hulk x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

:-( claire - hope you managed some sleep and feel a little better.

I've just weighed myself whilst I'm visiting my parents, I knew I had gained a bit as the midwife weighed me before my holiday and I had put on about 3lb and then whilst away I didn't eat too well - two pizza take aways (shared obviously so only 4 slices each time), huge brekkies, one day bf and friends got me to eat an 'adult' portion of spag bowl at the venue as he was sure I wasn't eating and that was massive - at least a whole pack of spaghetti in my mind!! And the rest! So was expecting some weight gain but it looks like I've put on 3lb of holiday weight :-\

Now some people would say that's not so bad but I lost almost 5 stone last year so the weight gain of pregnancy was always going to be hard for me - I feel like I'm going backwards :-( I know I will lose it afterwards but right now my heart is saying its OK for baby and my brain is fighting that and telling me to drop a couple :-(

Just had some porridge for brekkie as I didn't fancy any of the cereal my parents have in and I've had waaay too much white bread recently so am off toast. I do love porridge though :-) and I have to eat breakfast otherwise the slightly icky feeling creeps in

In much more positive news I was giving my dad a hug and said 'love you' as I do every morning when I visit and he hugged me back saying 'love you two too' and the said he meant me and baby! I said about bf and he said '...well yeah wing nut too in a way' and smiled :-) he calls bf wingnut because of his ears :D they aren't that big really though haha he's no FA cup! all in all a good move forward for pops!

:j The feint line is a little bit darker on my BFP today!! Yay!! I'm trying to stay really positive and hope for the best with this one. I think I will be 4 weeks tomorrow so could be looking at an early May babba. Looks like there are a couple of late April ladies so that will be nice to have similar due dates. My LB will be 3 in Feb so a good age gap I think. Trying to let the excitement outweigh the worry.

Good luck with the scan Claire x
