Icey77 - I had no nausea with DD1 then loads of nausea with DD2 so it's not really related to the gender I don't think. In saying that you have a 50% chance of having a boy anyway so you might be able to say "I was right!" :D As for the runs, a not very nice but fairly common symptom but if you feel it's bad enough to get some medical advice then do. I would use your own judgement and I'm sure the midwife wouldn't mind you asking anyway even if it's just to get reassurance

Thankfully I appear to have escaped today :)

I've got a GP appointment on 28th to be referred to the
Midwives, why I have to see a GP to say I'm pregnant so that I can be referred is beyond me, it feels like a waste of an appointment. It's not like they do a test anyway, they just ask and I say yes I'm pregnant, I've done 1,427 test :rotfl:

Heard today that there's massive chance of being made redundant? How the hell will I get a new job while pregnant? On the verge of tears in work, not sure what I'm going to do!!

deep breaths squirrel, it'll all work out the way it's supposed to.

As long as you've paid enough NI contributions you'll get maternity allowance which is the same as/pretty close to SMP so that shouldbe ok - think it's in the 66 weeks before the 25th week of pregnancy.

And there's always places looking for temp staff, after all, there'll always be people taking maternity leave ;) you could find a situation where the company want someone until near your due date, or sign up for a temp agency and have a few month long stints.

In fact check with your local council- the one i work have an in house bank of staff that they deploy for admin in departments as and when necessary

And then once baby's born you can have a proper think with your DH about what kind of work, where and for how long you want to do :)

  • Hi all,

Thought this board would be a good one to join as we all seem to be in the same boat:o

I'm 5 weeks pregnant and very nervous right now. In the past I've had 3 miscarriages and one ectopic pregnancy. The furthest I've ever got is 12 weeks. I'm currently off work at the moment, doc said that after my ectopic in April I need a break. I was so grateful to her for making that decision for me. Now I'm pregnant again she thinks its best for me to stay at home and away from stress until I've got past the 12 week point. I've never been off work this long and tbh I feel a mixture of relief and guilt.

Anyway I have my first scan booked at 7 weeks (two weeks today) so I'm trying to break it down into stages.

Good luck to all the ladies on here, my fingers are crossed for you.

    A very nervous Balla x :)

Thanks TL! Trying not to panic but can't help it!! Thanks for the advice though, I know there'll be a lot of things I need to look into if it comes to the worst!! I don't know anyone that this has happened to so it's all a bit scary! There is still a chance ill be safe but I kind of want to be prepared!

claire16c (and others) - Honestly, don't worry about the nausea passing. It's really normal for you to feel better after a couple of months. It's just your hormones settling, so don't stress. :)

icey - what a waste of a gp appointment :rotfl: I rang my gp this morning and they gave me the number for the MW to book myself in, so I rang them and sorted my appointment. :yay:

squirrel - How rubbish, try not to panic - sress is not good for your little bean ;) I hope you find out a bit more as soon as possible :) Maybe curb spending a little in the short term.......

ballabriggs - Hope you're relaxing at home and not scrubbing the floors, hoovering the stairs and painting the ceilings :p. Hope that the time passes for both of us to the 12 week mark and beyond :)

Ok ladies, so I'm starting to drift into the thread now, eek. I'm 5+1, EDD 20/04/14. Scan to be confirmed, although I think we'll be booking an early private one. First midwife appointment on 2nd Sept. I'm already now wishing away the rest of this year :D

Hi Squirrel just what you don't need but TL had some good advice. Personally I would make sure they know you're pregnant as they might be wary of a discrimination claim. Hope it all works out for you.

Welcome Balla :) Have they found out why you've had mcs in the past? That's a lot to have gone thro. Enjoy the break from work and don't feel guilty. Put yourself first.

TL has some great advice there Squirrel. I agree with faith id probably let it slip.

Thanks twig pig I'm just worried as the same thing happened when I had my mmc although admittedly that could have been coincidence, I feel a lot worse this time & from hours of google searching it is apparently normal :). I just feel better mentally when I'm sick! I've agreed with my boss I'm going to aim to go to work on thurs & fri as I was supposed to be in this week.

Hi balla, I really hope this works out for you no one should have to go through that x

Note to self & others: don't get ahead of yourself when you start feeling better, chicken caeser wrap plus ice cream is a bad bad combination if it comes back up later! Parmesan will never taste the same again!

Ladies, please can you tell me what the frequent urination pregnancy symptom feels like and how does it differ from a UTI?

TMI alert. I'm 11+3 and suddenly tonight I have this almost burning sensation in my urethra that is making me constantly feel like peeing. I have no pain and colour of my urine looks normal, and is light so I'm not dehydrated. Hubbie and I dtd for the first time on Sat morning so could this be a UTI? I've possibly only had one once before so it's hard for me to know. If instead this is what some of you have been experiencing for weeks then I'm glad I've not developed this symptom until now.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!
