becca0417 just relax and see what happens. I was mw led and everything in the pregnancy went well, but when it came to actually getting the baby out she just didn't want to come out. Turns out she was facing the wrong way slightly- not quite back to back and the cord was wrapped tight around her neck.

In the end I needed an episiotomy and ventouse assistance in the consultant led unit. I was a bit gutted as it meant I had to spend the night in a ward with 5 hormonal women with their babies, who all seemed to take turns in crying, whereas my LO was knackered and just slept. I couldn't sleep due to the constant crying of the other mums/babies!

It'll all work out in the end, I was super laid back and did want a water birth in the hospital, but just got all wrinkly and ended up getting out!!

Oh, I see! I thought it was for something serious. Oh no, I don't meant that to sound patronising and reading it back It sort of does. Sorry hun.

Remember, this is your baby and it is entirely up to you how you deliver. If you still have Strep B at the end of the pregnancy then your options are limited but there's no reason why you couldn't be on a midwifery led unit. Doctors are still available there. Hugs. Try not to worry about it now as it's such a long way away.

Be firm at all your appointments though if they discuss birthing options. You can have whatever you want as long as you know all the risks etc :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
Thanks lily. That's the ridiculous thing, I really do have the mindset of whatever I need to do for this baby, I will and I know I have absolutely no control during labour. Didn't expect my options to be narrowed so soon I guess! Don't think the letter wording helped!

Yes I though consultant care should be for serious issues, it's ridiculous, what a waste of his time. It's my fertility specialist tho so I am looking forward to saying thank you in person :)

For my first I started in a MW-led unit, then had meconium in my waters and had to transfer to the consultant-led end. TBH, I didn't see a doctor until I was almost at the end (MW was present because I had an epidural), so only difference really was the fetal monitoring.

Try not to let it worry you (that's easy for me to say :P)

Becca, that's a shame you can't have a home birth if that's what you've set your heart on. It might work out for the best. With DD2 I had planned not to have an epidural but when it came to it I was ordering the midwife out of the room to chase down the aneasthetist (sp?) :D If I'd been on the midwife led unit I wouldn't have had the option of epidural.

In practice when I was consultant led I still generally saw midwives, even whenI had a few weeks of unexplained bleeding in 2nd trimester. I only saw the consultant once throughout my pg for a routine appt and it was a midwife who delivered my baby.

Mrs bunny I've just got back from buying 2 twin packs of nursing bras too, I knew they felt bigger but was surprised to find I had gone from 34 b to 34 d ! Thought quite expensive though at 30 quid ish for 2 bras but I guess it's just cause they don't look as nice as normal ones I would buy - like u said though I could not believe how much better boobs felt in them :-)

I am glad your feeling better too!

I am abit down in the dumps today - PLMBL - I am sure we are the same person!!! Same date, feelings etc!!
Been yawning all day, snuggled on the sofa with a blanket feeling sorry for myself. my poor DH who is on nights and tired himself can not understand how tired I am, he just says try and work a night shift! (I use to work nights a few years back so I do understand) Being pregnant is SO tiring.
Proud mummy to an amazing 8 year old!
  • Lol MrsBunny I must say it's comforting that we experience the same things at the same time but I'm sorry you are down too. I went to lie down earlier but only managed 20 mins before the boys burst in creating holy war. I'm soooooo looking forward to bed time and plan a VERY early night.

Becca I'm sorry it looks like you won't get the homebirth you wanted, but I'm sure when babe is in your arms you will just be glag he/she is here, however it happens Xx

Mrsbunny - I'm getting the weekly emails from the 'What to expect' website and I read these to my hubbie. It lets us both know what is happening with the baby over the coming week but also gives info on what the mother is going through. This weekly info on how extreme pregnancy fatigue is, along with nausea, bloating, headaches, hormones, wind, sore boobs, etc means he's aware of what I'm going through and is really taking care of me. Maybe if you get your OH to read more about the first trimester he would be more understanding?

That's a good idea Kynthia. Then he will know its not like you're faking tiredness!

Or alternatively, send him to my house and he can watch my DH spend all day collecting sick buckets off me, chasing me in the bathroom with water & tissues, running to the shop every 5 minutes for various food & drink that I can handle for 2 minutes then preparing said food & drink, rearranging fans around me when I'm sweating from throwing up and collecting various notes & prescriptions from the drs,& rearranging his work so I'm not in the house alone all day and he might realise it could get a lot worse and let you get a good nap in! :rotfl:
