LannieDuck - I only had my booking in appointment on Wednesday afternoon so have only just 'officially' entered the system - I was lucky to get appointment they first wanted my booking in appointment when I was 13 weeks as there are not many midwifes available in my area!! pretty annoying when I phoned up at 5 weeks for an appointment. Fingers cross things get better.

Has anybody got any recommendations on maternity bras?

Thanks Becca. Hope your backs not too bad after the weekend! Yep first time to Reading too. We are only going for a couple of nights but the idea of camping in general puts me off lol
  • Aw HungryKitty, how cute!

    Welcome debs

MrsBunny I'm the same, I eat all day long and then can't finish my tea. I never eat anything afterwards either. I'm another one craving carbs though, for me it's white bread!

Unfortunately I'm not going abroad so I don't need to worry re food, however I do find it all a bit confusing. From what I remember with DS1 the advice was avoid nuts at all costs to avoid allergies in the baby. By the time I had DS2 the advice was to eat nuts as that would avoid allergies in the baby! This time I can't see anything about nuts!!

Faith I would deffo go for the hotel, if only for the facilities incase you feel sickly/need a million trips to the loo in the night.

Kynthia I'm off to Belgium on Sunday and I have to say it's the flight that has me most concerned but the midwife today did her best to reassure me. I'm traveling on a budget with another money conscious friend so whilst we are taking Money for meals we're both taking plenty of room friendly foods and will be buying fruit when we land!(but having hearty brekkies as they'Re included in the room costs)

  • Forgot to say MrsBunny re the maternity bras, I really liked mothercare ones during my last 2 pregnancies. My boys are now 8 and 3 though, so for all I know they aren't the best any more. I'm 36GG before pregnancy though, so I like the fact that I can get my size there.

MrsBunny I got some from M&S and Mothercare both are good and functional, but not the most glam as I was too cheap to buy the really pretty ones!

I would say don't get too many as you'll probably need to get different sizes later on/after giving birth.

Thankyou for your replies - with being the first pregnancy I am abit lost on where to buy things! I did have a quick look in m&s last time I went to a larger store but couldn't see any....must have a proper look this weekend! Need to find my local mothercare too to have a look, I think there is one close to my parents house. Wont be buying too many - money is tight anyway so was thinking two white two dark (cheaper t-shirt type ones) and maybe, if money allows one 'fancy' one. Knowing my luck my boobs will grow further and will be replacing them in a few weeks!!

PLMBL - I too am larger breast before I got pregnant, now they look like footballs and really hurt. :-( good to know mothercare cater for the larger cup size (hopefully!)

  • Have you looked on ebay? I know it's harder as you can't try them on or take them back if they are no good but they will probably be cheaper. Perhaps you can get some instore to check the sizes and then buy more of the same online?

I found it good to get the feeding bras as they then did for after baby arrived too. Suppose it depends on your thoughts on that too though!

Anyone had any dental treatment yet with their pregnancy, or previous pregnancies?

I need an extraction - there's a back story but I'll keep that to my separate thread on this! But I'm staying at my parents before I fly tomorrow so can't see my usual dentist/out of hours in my usual area so was wondering if the emergency dentist/dental access centre in their area will do it whilst I'm pregnant and will any numbing/ sedation be available for me? I cry at check ups I think and extraction would kill me. Don't really want to wait until I get back in a week either just in case anything happened :'(
