I wonder if I'll be asked at my appointment this week. Our local hospital is new but constantly in the news, mainly through issues with the maternity ward so I'm a bit wary about going there. I need to look into alternatives but like the idea of a midwife led unit. It seems too early to be thinking about stuff like that!

Sitting at my desk unable to concentrate as I feel really nauseous. It kicked in on the train this morning and hasn't let up all morning. I think that commuting will start getting difficult if this carries on.

When are people planning on telling their managers? I didn't want to say anything till after the 12 week scan but he's such a stickler for punctuality and not taking sick days I think I'll have to see how I feel as the weeks go on.

laurabllue I told my manager as soon as I needed to (ie so I could work from home today to have my first MW appt), although I'm sure she appreciated the early heads up so she can start to think about filling my role while I'm off. Plus if anything happens and I need time off unexpectedly then I'd rather her be in the know.
She is a friend more than my last boss too, so feel more comfortable telling her.

It does seem really to commit to one hospital. But I guess they want continuity of care, and they need to know for the scan.

Feel sick as a dog today & was up all night being ill - anyway means I'm not feeling so paranoid today! Just taken a tablet as I'm looking after my niece all day today. I'm 6+ 3 now please let me be lucky.

Kynthia such a shame you couldn't tell your mum!

We have to say from the start which hospital we want too as the notes are for that hospital & get sent there so you can then ring up & book a scan. The one I will choose has got a midwife led unit with private rooms, and is only about a year old but its next to the main hospital which is good to know incase you need an epidural or emergency situation.

And that is why I don't like finding out what I'm having - it would be me they get it wrong for!! That said, when we were having DS2 my FIL had terminal cancer so we asked the sonographer to write down in a sealed envelope the gender of the baby for him. FIL passed away 2 days later without ever opening it :( and the day I gave birth DH and his Mum opened it together and it was right.

Personally I like the surprise anyway.

Claire I'm sorry you are feeling so poorly but glad for you at the same time if it puts your mind at rest.

Becca can you change my scan date to 28th August please, I changed it back after realising I had my holiday dates wrong!

Off to my parents in Spain on Wednesday so looking forward to it :D

So tired today I woke at 1:30 and then couldn't get back to sleep for hours, it keeps happening at the moment which isn't helping the tiredness, it's really annoying.

well, the midwife has been and gone. She was lovely and friendly. Filled in the reams of forms, did a urine sample.

She did ask where I want to go hospital wise...
The MLU I mentioned earlier she cant refer me to, the doctor would have to, as it is outside the trust (its in Sandwell & West B'ham instead of Heart of England). Plus it is quite a distance further than the rest (would be a nightmare to get to in rush hour traffic).

So, I'm down for the MLU at Solihull (she said its got a very high standard of care) and I can always change to Heartlands (if I get scared of the no epidural nearer the time!!).

So I'll get to see what its like for my scans etc. In fact, I've got to go for blood tests so might do that this afternoon. Apparently I can just turn up and wait for a Phlebotomist.

Edited to say she's revised my due date back to the 18th March, but as we all know we don't all have 28 day cycles!! So it may say 18th on my forms, but I'm going to stick with 22nd.

sjlou that's shocking. 3k? And apparently most of the clothes from Asda?! This is one reason why I wouldn't find out!
Great news about your MW apt, glad she was able to help.

Claire glad you are feeling reassured although the sickness is not great! Are you off work now?

My puppy is driving me nuts, love him to pieces and I know this will pass but he's been up since 4am. Wish I had that energy!

I had my urine results back and have a UTI, so have a prescription to go and collect. Glad I have my exemption card!

Becca can you add my scan date to the list please- 30th August 2013.
    Thanks.
Have discovered today that there is a place approx 5 miles away that does scans at all stages so thinking about a 4d scan later on.
My nausea is subsiding at last and I seem to have a little tummy. After our scan last week after our little scare the hospital moved my due date a week forward so by this we are now in double figures! 10+2. A quarter of the way through.
