Hi all, ive been browsing this thread for a couple of days. But wanted to talk to ppl :-)
I found out that I was pregnant last week (not planned and 1st) and im roughly 5 and a half weeks now. I had my drs appt last night and felt underwhelmed. I was only in there 2 mins, she didn't check my sample that I brought it, she didnt give me my edd, she didnt tell me things that I should stay away from other than she asked me if I drank or smoke (which I dont). She then said that I should book in for a midwife appt in 3-4wks. I kinda was expecting more support I think seen as ive never had a child before...
My partner knows and ive told my mom n dad but they dont want me to say anything or talk about it much just incase things go wrong - which I can understand but its making me feel that I cant be excited about it :-(
I know it sounds like a rant but I need to get things off my chest and hear other ppls experiences I suppose!
Welcome and congratulations
Sorry the doctor was underwhelming but it is fairly typical and I'm sure your parents are very excited, they just worryLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

hope everyone is well hugs to all that need/want one xx
I am in a similar position my DD was born with a defect so will have extra scans etc. I am really worried I really want a healthy babyJust take each day as it comes.

Samtoby - Congrats again. Glad to see you crossing over from the other thread. I am still poas (internet cheapies) everyday and my lines seems to have reached the point where they won't get any darker but I started with a faint line at 13dpo and they have gradually darkened over the last week.
My OH has been like Tigger for the last week, boucing around desperate to tell everyone, today he has told everyone (including his family & friends in Holland) via Facebook so now I am really hoping and praying that everything works out for us.
Only my partner knows at present. He was pleased to see a stronger line on the test today. I have another one left still.
I can only imagine after your journey how excited you both are xx3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

OWIU - I'm so sorry. I hope you get some more answers next week. I really hate it when people post sad news. I find it so upsetting
Look after yourself xxx
Liz - As everyone else said, what you experienced with the doctor is very normal. Pregnancy is just a big waiting game. If you feel unsure of anything, have a look on the NHS website or in some pregnancy books as they are usually quite good. People on here will also be able to help. Many of us have had children before and equally, there are women who are in their first pregnancy.14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -

I'm on promethazine because I was dehydrated, but to be honest it's not been amazing - it takes the edge off if I can keep it down but makes me incredibly drowsy and I still feel sicky... I'm going back tomorrow to change meds, presuming I don't end up on the antenatal ward with an IV tonight which is looking like a distinct possibility (passed 24 hours without keeping down any fluids now). I'm soooo hoping this eases soon... Sorry I couldn't give you more positive news, this is why I've been very quiet lately although I've been lurking like a fiend
Just feel like such a moany cow whinging about sickness with some of the truly sad news on here recently.
Big hugs to everyone, hope you're all enjoying the sunshine.0 -
