ok, got my phone today works like a dream in dab and i put my other halfs contract virgin sim and it updated to all of the tv channels, took the sim out again and re-inserted an old payg sim, tv channels working fine.

have a question though is there a better alarm clock function than standerd as i wish to use it for this and the dab as well.

bargain though it is a bit ugly

Just got our phone today and it's fantastic. DAB is clear as a bell and picks up 18 stations. TV not quite as good signal but gets 5 channels.
Registered for the 200 free minutes (100 per month) with no problems and the phone came with £5 of credit.
So good I'm gonna buy one for my sister-in-law for her birthday.

I expalins things in more detail and apparently there is a reason for three of the keys to be different from the rest. Its is for changing the tv channels quickly.

I ordered a Lobster on t'internet a few days ago, using the 'Tribe' code and Quidco to save the most I could. Tonight I rang up to order a reconditioned one for my bloke and I got asked why I had used the staff discount (Tribe)code on my first order (EEEK!).
Apparently (according to the salesperson) the pattern of sales for this phone is very noticeable - what with this being a very popular site, sales of the Lobster have skyrocketed, as has the use of the Tribe code, as have 'phone calls to Virgin for reconditioned ones. Get in fast if you are dithering, because they may remove the Tribe code.

Yeah I noticed that any number I put in allowed me to use the Tribes one but took the trouble to find out what Tribes was. Once I saw it was Virgin's staff discount scheme I didn't think it was right to use it for the sake of another £3 off (or more likely because I thought I'd get my order cancelled ). Seriously though there may well be some poor Virgin employee who gets some of their credits lost because of random people ordering stuff with their number! But partly Virgin's fault for not doing a number check on the site.

I have now removed this link to the Tribe discount to stop any future customers going through this link.
I did not realise this was the case and found it on another forum.

Now I am feeling guilty about using the Tribes discount too. Though I did this before anyone said what it was. Anyway my DS is well delighted with his (very early) 5 months bithday present and cant wait for it to arrive. And thanks to the invite yourself to joost on the freebies board I am even more flavour of the day.

*coughs* I did mention it was a staff only discount code only 5 hours after the tribes link was posted (post no. 12 on this thread).

Having said that if Virgin have delivered the phones to people who used the code then it's their own fault.

well its been an interesting few days. I can't believe my first ever post on Martin's Money Saving website has generated so much interest!!!

I saw the lobster phone offer on the virgin website so I thought I'd sign up to the money saving forums and post my first ever message!!!
