Lovely free cup of tea and free penguin biscuits today. Well, in exchange for a pint of my finest blood at the blood donor clinic! :)
  • Please let March be over. Got paid yesterday. Went in supermarket and splurged. So wrong!!!!! Will be taking a set amount of money and then hiding my cash card.

I am totally and utterly ashamed of my behaviour. :-(

Which leads me on. Me and Mr disagreed on this point. I didn't want emergency pots, I just wanted to throw it all at the CC. Mr wasn't having it so as a compromise we have small pots with a bit of emergency cash. What do you lot all do?

I am saving towards an emergency fund of £500 which would hopefully cover most household emergencies. I agree its not sensible to have savings when you are in debt but for me its the psychology of not using the cards thats important and I like the idea of having a pot of money if something crops up.

Had to spend £4.69 yesterday on ingredients for DS2s cooking lesson at school. All things we wouldnt normally buy. Very annoying. Not done the spreadsheets for a couple of days but think I am doing OK.

Just hope we can get through the hols without spending too much. Sounds like its going to be freezing so the kids wont want to do too many outdoor activities!

  • Hi

Sorry I've been awol ~ don't know where this week's gone?

I've had 3 more sfd's and did a shop to top up freezer and food cupboard (I wanted to make sure we came home from Easter break with food in so we didn't buy a take away!). Am still under my grocery budget which is great!

I won't be back online now until April as we're away for Easter. Money has been set aside for this though.

Have a lovely Easter all and take care!

    Afternoon Chickadees!

I have had a busy morning and now having a cuppa, with moggy sat perched on my knee thoroughly interested in my typing and all the boxes from underneath my bed removed. I am gearing up for the move and was curious about how much trash I have stored. It's time take the bookcase down aswell which means trying to put it back up in the new place (cheap IKEA one I have had for 4 plus years) or get a better one off Freecycle.. that won't fall apart when "HRH Duchess Dorothy of Mog" decides to clamber up it.

A busy few days ahead and a desperate search for a suitcase. I obviously have to do this without the motorbike so getting from place to place to check various prices will take a few bus journeys...Dunelm Mills - anyone familiar with this place. Gonna take a look today, been once and wasn't paying attention to suitcases - then TK Maxx again today. One day travel left on my travel-card so going to abuse it rather than wasting money tomorrow! Clever Mama Puss!

I have a full bank account as a few of you do although wasn't really stretched this month or desperate for it which is always good!

£££ transferred to the holiday accounts. I am pleased to say a hefty £1220 has been accumulated ready to have everything paid in cash although I intend to bring some of that home!

Money being returned by "that" organisation covers the 4 days my brother will be in London (£158- £35 more than I was expecting) with travel for two of those days covered by the petrol I am not using for the next two weeks...

I am considering taking out certain moneies to place in envelopes. Anyone doing that? Always makes me look like a loon though at Tesco's making sure I have the RIGHT ENVELOPE! :rotfl:

So my budget it tight, with party food money, typical monthly food money, and "body-builder" brother's visiting food money all separately accounted for. What a life!

Hmmmmm I am wittering now. More importantly... planning April's Challenge today and tomorrow. It will be up by Friday night!

    Onwards and Upwards!!!

Had a planned spend day, stocked up on bread for the weekend and bought an onion so I can do steak n onion wraps for tea. Also, rather naughtily, treated myself to a butty for lunch, £5 spent in all.

Mum's had to go back to hospital today to have her wrist rebroken and reset as they didn't do it properly on Friday and there's a large chance her wrist won't heal properly if they just left it as it is. Makes me realise that my parents are getting old and are becoming fragile...

    Evening Everyone!

Have broken up for a few days which is nice :) but planning on getting some course work done over the weekend.

Funny gym induction story to share:

Went to gym to meet instructor. Very buff. Very fit. Very distracting!!! Did induction... measurements <think of anything else except where his hands are right now la la la la> and then the circuit which was pretty tough but enjoyable. Chat afterwards and goal setting... all good. Feeling very motivated. Was a little shy as you would be chatting to someone who looks like they just fell out of an Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue! Get to my car, glance in the mirror as I'm pulling away and... NO! Nooooooooooooooo!!!

That morning I'd cropped my beard (I am a guy for new people who've joined ha ha!) and always use moisturiser... Where I'd been sweating the moisturiser had condensed out and formed white sludge on my stubble... so it kinda looked like someone had uhm j*zzed <sorry if that offends anyone!!!> on my face!!! OMG! He never said a word... and the gym was really busy!!! Arrrrrrrrrrrgh! I bet I'll forever be known as the guy with white stuff on his chin...

Anyway - I've paid upfront for 3 sodding months so I'll have to bite the bullet and go back. The shame!!!... Could only happen to me lol :rotfl:

Anyway... Today = SFD number 15

Good look with the packing Kat... This is where a TARDIS would come in handy!!!

    :)

Does anyone else find it hard to keep March's budget separate from April's after payday? I got paid yesterday and reset all my budgets to zero but there are still a few days left of this challenge. Since I have to get food, petrol and a night out (all coming from April's budgets) before Monday (1 April) I decided to take all the money that was in my various purses (about £8ish) and put it in a jar. I'll either save it for a treat sometime, or dip into it if my budgets fall short.

Today was a sort of SFD. It was freezing outside and I was cold and hungry so I decided to go into a juice bar and have a toasted sandwich. I really wanted a juice too but (fearing kat's shouty capitals) declined. Anyway, got my sandwich and took two bites before realising they had given me the wrong one and this one had turkey in it  Veggie puke alert!!! Well, almost. The staff were lovely about it. They gave me a fresh avocado, mozzarella and tomato sandwich and a yummy freshly squeezed juice, as well as a full refund. I later ordered a coffee (I was still freezing!) and they gave me that free too :) So, despite my best efforts to splurge, the universe was working in my favour! Feel bad for the poor dead turkey though :silenced:

I must have an early night tonight. I've had two nights without a proper sleep and I'm soooo tired. Got a busy day tomorrow (thought I was meant to be on holiday???) so I'll get everything ready tonight and climb into bed as soon as I can :)

    Goodnight all zzzzzzz
