Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a miserable day here.Ah well, I suppose that it is a bank holiday and rain is pretty much "the law"!
I had a lovely day yesterday, catching up with my friend in Peckham. I was actually really lucky because her mum offered to cook us lunch AND pick me up from the station. Friend and I managed to put the world to rights, deciding on quite a few key aspects.Sadly, I didn't see Rzl's post until last night, but next time I go down to see my friend, I'll be demanding a cup of Rzl's tea.
DH has gone to work this morning. He's "on call" but decided to go in anyway, taking his revision book with him. His parting words were "can you tackle the ironing pile"? Grrrr....... It's miles high. He said that he'd finish it off later, but still.........
I'm going up to my parents' house tonight as I've got a course in Lincoln tomorrow. I'm looking forward to my mum's cooking!
Bye for now

Hi Everyone
Been so busy househunting, the amount you spend on petrol and eating out! We haven't been getting in till 11pm, to avoid the screaming kids that are making our lives hell. I'm not anti children but these are excessive after a day at work and driving. The parents don't care when we say anything, these are children of university lecturers, not chavs!:(
Still haven't found a place to buy, so given we have 32 days to go, we are likely to rent, but trying to find a place that is quiet enough (away from potentially screaming kids, barking dogs, building work and partying teenagers/students), and our budget isn't too bad, is like trying to find a needle in haystack.
Our son THINKS he might have got caught by a speeding camera, his 2 years expires in mid June, so dreading the post. We know it comes around 8 days after the event but it is holiday day, so if we don't get the dreaded post this week, we should be OK.
We got a lovely surprise from Oxford Council for accidently straying into a buses only zone. It has changed so much and it wasn't very clear it was restricted - so hate Oxford with avengence now - all £30 worth. We were simply driving through and used to know the place so well! But I don't expect any sympathy, given the flaming I got about complaining about a tea room that gave bad service, on this site!
I am rather down to be honest, for the last 10 years, we have lived in noisy homes with uncaring and nasty neighbours and had the most attrocious luck, which I won't go into now.
I am not getting on with my OH very well either and my mother is a control freak. I don't feel I have any mates either. So I don't know why I am bothering tbh.:(
So it's a wonder, I've not gone nuts:(

Well done.:T Are you getting help through Drs? I know several people who have given up recently and they have found the support offered really helpfull.
CCStar Things sound like they are rough for you at the moment. Re: noisey neighbours, have you been pointed towards this website? They can help you with the legalities should you decide to fight, or just listen and understand should you just feel like venting. It really is a worthwhile site to visit for help with neighbours from hell, everyone understands how it feels in a way that people who have always had reasonable neighbours simply cannot.
I do so hope that your fortunes turn around soon.0 -
Morning all :hello:
Welcome to Crutches and Oops A Daisy
Cheer up Snowy. Hope you have a better day.
Lucky you Tru. Oh for a day of peace. Enjoy.
Happy Birthday SOM of 1 :bdaycake:
We had a quiet weekend and OH is painting the exterior of the house which makes him very grumpy:rolleyes: so I took the girls to MIL's yesterday. She has a 3 acre garden of woodland with red squirells and deer and lots of stuf for the kids. Best thing about it? MIL is away on holiday. :rotfl: so we had the place to ourselves and I helped myself to lots of wild garlic that grows in abundance there.
OH is working today so as it's raining I am planning to rope the girls in to some batch baking and cooking with me. When I got up this morning they were already tidying their room. I thought I'd wandered into a parallel dimension but i reckon their DAD has had a word with them.
I'm not feeling so good today healthwise but I think I can manage the cooking and baking and the rest of the house looks ok so it will be a lick and a polish there
The veg patch is looking a bit bruised form the high winds but I think everything has survived and I finally got the wormery up and running yesterday so I'm loking forward to some lovely compost for my "crops".
It was a freecycle find.Last week I got a six month old hoover on freecycle. It was intended for my OH's office but it turned out to be much better than the one I've got so I've given my old one to him and get to keep this lovely new hoover cyclonic. :T
Gosh I sound boring today. Sorry folks.:o
better go and make a start.
Haribo x
Edited to add. hope things pick up for you soon CC!!0 -
Morning all :hello:
Just looked out the window in my part of Cornwall and no rain yet. I was really muggy yesterday so some rain would clear the air.
Sorry to read you are feeling down ccstar. Keep coming on MSE, you can rant anytime you like, we're here to support each other :grouphug: . Good luck with your house hunting, I'm sure you will find somewhere soon though it does sound incredibly stressful.
Happy Birthday SOMO1 and Wanty  .
Hiya oops a daisy - congratulations for packing up the cigarettes :T and I hope the cleaning goes well.

The good thing that happened this weekend is we got our refund from Ford after the kerfuffle over the order we made for a new car. It only took nearly 2 months and we were meant to have the car within two weeks. Apparently, it was sitting in the depot where they make them and the manager of the dealer we went to was sacked during the two weeks they said it would take, and the order was deleted, so the car was unaccounted for and only unearthed last week, we cancelled our order at the end of March when they said the car wasn't ready, we needed it for our trip in mid April, and they said it would be refunded within a month. We got it on Saturday 5 May and the order was made on 10 March!
In the meantime, we bought another car from another place, as it wasn't likely we would get it in time for our holiday, and it is in the garage, due to a fault that came about on the last day of our holiday on the way home. This is a brand new car too that I saved hard for three years to buy! We have a courtesy car tho'.
When will it stop?:(An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

We are leaving now, so will weather it for the time being. But if anyone can think of ways to get satisfaction once I find a place, please post them!
We really want a place away from other people now or at least some distance away!!An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

Re other business.
Am staying in and OH is working. He prefers to work BH as we like to take time off when people are working. We will be taking time off this summer after we move. We are not taking a holiday this year, so want a place that feels like a (quiet) holiday place.
Going to have a BBQ later, hoping the kids screaming doesn't spoil our tea and relaxing this evening, which they do in the summer. I hate these light evenings and I hope it really psses down later to keep em in - we BBQ from the garage with the door open. Currently dry but threatening to rain - bring it on I say. It can rain till we move tbh, except the nights we go out viewing! An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

Morning everyone
:bdaycake: Happy Birthday SOMO1 :bdaycake:
Welcome Crutches and Oops a Daisy :hello:
(((CCstar))) Stick with it girl, I deriously thought my luck would never change and that I'd never find a peaceful home with nice neighbours, but I did! And when I least expected it. You never know what is round the corner. It helped moving into a place where the flats are really a bit small for families, we have mostly youngish working couples or retired couples. It really shows in the noise levels.
Has anyone heard from Smoky?
Well, the cheek of it! Mrs Coot is, I think, on the next batch of eggs so Mr Coot is in charge of the little ones. So what is his idea of child care? When the chicks start yelling for food does he immediately start foraging for them? Oh no... he gets onto the boards below the balcony, listens out for me moving near the windows then yells his head off, getting the chicks join in just to be sure I get the message!
Thinking about it, scrub what I said above CCstar, I talked a load of rubbish, there is no escape, kids are kids whatever the species!
Right, time I was out, promised to sort someone's balcony for them today, and it is going to be heavy work.
Have a lovely day everyone. My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead
Proud to be a chic shopper
