Daily for Monday 7th May 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone

Happy birthday to StressedOutMumOf1...hope you have a lovely relaxing day and that you get spoilt silly.

It's a bank holiday...woo hoo!! Unfortunately in the land of retail where I earn my pennies there are no such thing as bank holidays so it's "another day another dollar" today for me. I get a day off in lieu though, and can have that when I please.

I had a right grumpy day yesterday, not in a good mood at all, and no particular reason for it. Fingers crossed I manage a smile today.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Snowy.

    Good morning everyone!

Snowy - chin up, soon be the weekend!

    Welcome to Crutches!

    Happy Birthday SOM of 1!

Had a lovely day out yesterday on a Fairy Hunt. We found all the fairies, and the small Penguins won some sweets. Had tea and scones too. The house had a big plant sale, but I kept my hands firmly in my pockets. There'll be plenty of time to buy plants once we've finished building the trellis and edging in the garden.

Big apology to those who've planned their bank holiday day out today, but rain is forecast - hoorah :j :T  :T :j My garden is so dry, and I'll be watering it all day if we don't get rain soon. Spent some tome in the polytunnel yesterday. Will spend some more time down there later.

Just heard on the rdio about a man who was diagnosed with cancer, given 3 month to live. He went on a spending spree, but then was given a clean bill of health. He's now suing the hospital    Why doesn't put his energy into celebrating the fact that he's not about to die :confused:

Have a fab day, Penny. x

    Good morning everyone

Bit of a grey day here in Scotland, although every now and again the sun bursts through. Like you, Amie and Penny - my garden needed a good soaking too so I'm happy it's rained a bit.

DDs still away so enjoying the lack of bickering. Yesterday morning was terrible - she's wearing my perfume, that's my socks, I'm sitting in the front - They never argued when they were younger but since they became teenagers it's non stop. I hope they grow out of it as they used to be so close. Not sure when they're coming back but we're thinking of getting the wellies on and going for a drive to find a nice walk in the country to tire the dog out. And then he'll sleep in the back of the car and we can have a nice pub lunch... I've left OH in bed again so I can do some more studying. Got a bit done yesterday but still way behind!

Hope something brings back your smile today Amie

And I laughed at that too, Pink Fairy. I'm so shortsighted without my lenses that I think if I can't see them, then they can't see me, so I'm often wandering around half dressed of a morning.

Good luck to everyone using the day to catch up on housework etc -I'M NOT GOING TO DO ANY!!

And to all of you having to work today - hope the weather's better for you when you do get time off.

Hope everyone finds something fun in the day

    Morning:D

Went to the family history show live on Sat at Olympia, which was good, got loads of leaflets (as you do!) Ian Hislop and colin jackson were there telling their family tree stories along with Bamber Gascoigne doing a quiz! (havent seen him for years!:D ) - also got some lovely printed trees to fill in!

Sunday took the kids swimming, havent been since our holiday in Dubai last november!!! then got a few things done around the house before the rain cometh today! ironing to do later (lovely indoor job!)

Still had no reply to my email from my boss about my job - dont know what to do now??? I would have thought someone would have replied surely:confused:
    Not looking good is it:o

amie - Do you put coconut milk in instead of normal milk for the rice pud? or real coconut? as it sounds yum. Thought I'd been really good all week on the diet - but jeans were still blooming tight when i tried to put them on - so not very encouraging! (feel like a fat moo now!):o

twink - I looked in my tescos for the Jonagold apples but Icouldnt see them - is it a regional offer do you know?

penpen - hope the new batch of chooks are coming along nicely?!
    crutches - Welcome!
    Happy Birthday SOMO1:beer:

    Enjoy your day everyone!

    Morning all,

Not many up yet this morning - I would love to still be in bed however I was lucky enough to sleep from 11.30pm - 7am :D so I can't moan really.

I discovered Flyladys weekly thread last night (why does it take me so long to find these great threads when I seem to spend my life on MSE?) anyway it was almost a relief to be told what to do today and not have to think about it myself. So I'm going to have a go at this with kiddiwinkles - I like to get them involved in the housework;) - and they seem to quite like it too. I also need to work on my nightly routine which smtimes gets skipped:o and causes me distress in the mornings - and I can't wait to get cracking on the 5 hotspots I've highlighted:D .

Apart from Flylady, I'm going to be trying to fix the broken washing line (bless DD's), planting some sunflower seeds, rearranging DD's bedroom (inc hanging new pictures and sorting out all drawers) and trying to find someone with a strimmer/strong lawnmower that I can borrow to tackle my overgrown garden.

The weather in Birmingham today is grey and miserable but I don't let it dishearten me too much coz it's been like this a few mornings in a row and then turned in to beautiful sunshine.

    I hope every1 has a gr8 bank hol monday and :grouphug: to every1 who wants/needs 1.

    Luv Jxx
