I'm not sure yet nutella, my DP would still like me to stay at home still but I wouldn't mind doing a bit of mobile hairdressing. That way I can still be around for school times/nativity plays etc but also do something for myself. I have been a stay at home mum for nearly 10 years now  I have done a bit of mobile hairdressing at times and I always cut neighbours/family/friends hair but The majority of the time I have stayed with the kids. I do really enjoy being at home with the boys and I'm lucky that I don't have to work as DP earns enough but I would like to have some me time too.

Has anyone tried the Dunstan theory of distinguishing baby cries? I just found it on the internet. It says that the most popular five cry sounds are as follows:
1. NEH – hunger
2. OWH – sleepy
3. HEH – discomfort (hot or cold, nappy change, etc.)
4. EAIR – lower wind
5. EH – burp0 -
Afternoon all.
It's so nice here ATM while everywhere else seems to be getting snow... No idea what's going on but I'm not complaining.
Took A down to Tesco for the first time today without the pram, it was hell, omg. He swept a whole shelf of cornflake cakes onto the floor and while I was attempting to pick them up he ran away  by the time I got back I was sweating buckets. Not a good experience.
He's eaten all of his breakfast and lunch today, hooray! Have prepped a quorn and lentil cottage pie for dinner with loads of hidden veggies so we'll see how he gets on with that
Enjoying peace and a coffee at the moment. Baby is sleeping and OH has just been packed off to work :j may go out a walk when A wakes but we'll see how it goes. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Hoovered today, smelt burning, looked around, notice smoke coming out of the Hoover, eeeeeeek!!!!
Have taken it apart, think ie solved the problem, about 14 tons of stringy bits of carpet and my hairwrapped around and around the bit that spins the belt, haven't had a chance to test it yet as bubba asleep, but fingers crossed cuz we can't afford a new Hoover!!
I've been AWOL, so bit behind, but mothers day - fluff and any others who received nothing, no I don't think you are unreasonable by being put out about it. I actually was expecting nothing but got a card, best mum cup AND a Stephen king book that I didn't even know existed and I'm very excited to read it, excellent present. Also as I was away all last week and got home 4:30pm on mothers day, OH told me that Reuben rang him while I thought he was napping and gave him instructions on what to get mewhich I thought was really cute

Had a not great night. He went down at 9 which was brilliant and we brought his moses basket down here (need to get a dirt cheap monitor so we can put him upstairs). Was going to feed him at 12 but both fell asleep, oops.
He woke at 2:30 crying for a feed and then again at 5:30 for a mini feed. This meant he was hungry again at 7 and then again at 8:30. So not great, but we'll try again tonight!
He's been fighting sleep all day meaning he screamed his way through baby club today, oops.
He's learnt a new trick today, when he fills his nappy (as in proper pooplosion) he smiles at me. Yeah cheers bud! Lol.0 -
Quick check-in and I'll C+P this to both pregnancy and baby threads as I know I've been AWOL from both... went to the hospital to have the pains I was having checked out - no sign of labour there but one of their tests showed a chance of it kicking off over the next few days so was kept in Fri-Mon to get both shots of steroids in and on a drip to stop uterine tightenings (it didn't)... tightnings kept going kind of starting off but then stopping so by last night I was so fed up of getting no answers I got a very reluctant agreement I can go home but to haul backside back to the hospital at the first remotely ominous twinge for fear of delivering a prem baby at the roadside. Since I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow I'm not that scared on that front rather than the other stuff really - especially knowing I'm a steroid shot and a week ahead of last time - just living in flipping limbo with my mother staying so I'm not in the house alone if things DO kick off properly is hard-going.
Hospital however is much much better than the hellhole one I delivered at last time - only met a couple of slightly iffy members of staff and the rest have been fantastic. Food also slightly more edible!
Just kind of wishing things would get going now - have had niggles, tightenings, then pains AND tightenings at up to 3min intervals but nothing's developed from any of it so far.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Great news Dizzy, that your new hospital is better and you are well.
Candlewax, I had not heard of that. There's an extra cry for me@ emotional / I want cuddles . It's very obvious for us, she pulls out the bottom lip and stares with a sad face for a few seconds before screaming all of a sudden and go red. This is the cry with the biggest tears, she does not really cry for the rest but loudly moan. I can differentiate hunger and tiredness well, she does not cry because of a nappy and I had not experienced a lot of hot /cold cry. I wouldn't say she makes different sounds but make those sounds? I talk to mine in English and Spanish. different pitch and expression. Does it assume all babies in all countries / languages make those, sounds?Quit smoking *1st January 2010*
