My OH wants to change his car. He wants a BMW though...completely out of our price range!

    I'd love a BMW...I like the X5's :D

But they are sooo expensive, so I'll stick with my mazda and OH can stick with his peugeot - whether he likes it or not lol.

    Morning, hope babies slept well.

Sunshine - I like the X5 too. :D it seems to be a popular choice with the school run mums. They are everywhere!

Jannine - how sweet of your DH to buy you a car for your birthday. He seems a keeper!! ;)

I am taking Noah to soft play today with a friend and her little girl. It's his first time but if he enjoys it I think we will all go as a family at the weekend for his birthday. :D

    Morning all :)

Question for all, when did you start bringing in a sort of night time routine?

We had a few nights where he was feeding at 11ish when we went to bed and then sleeping till 5, which was great! BUT it came after an evening of crying and feeding, he was really unsettled!

So we introduced a proper bedtime. So now every night we start bedtime routine at 8pm. Some nights he has a bath, then into PJs, sleeping bag, given a bottle and put in moses basket. So far this has worked well and he's settling lovely :) We're then giving a dream feed at 11.30 - 12 ish with the idea being he goes till 5 - 6ish. But it's not happening!

He's now started waking at 3 and 6 again. Eeeek.

Do we just keep going and hope he eventually drops the 3am feed? Any tips? :(

My LO fed twice a night until she was about 6 months, at which point I started reducing the amount of milk I was giving her at each feed until eventually she had nothing at all. We then had a couple of nights of controlled crying and that was it. I wouldn't do that before 6 months though, and not before you've started weaning - until then they need their milk (their tummies are so small they can't hold much at a time) and you just have to provide it on demand I'm afraid :o

Peanut, mine is three months old today. This past week she's been having a feed at 2-3am and nothing else until 8am or so. She might wake up for tge dummy or with wind, but settles usually quickly. I increased her feeds during the day, I put an extra ounce in the bottle and offered it again later if she had not finished it. Also, the more she naps, the better she sleeps at night, so I make sure she has around 3h+ at least of daytime naps in total. Every baby is different but it's worth to have a look at that.

Hi, feeling a bit emotional and wondered if I could get some advice? I have decided today to stop breastfeeding. little one is 7 weeks old and not gaining weight as much as he should. I am just finding it all too stressfull worrying that he is hungry.

Anyway. hv advised to give him a 4oz bottle a day on top of breastfeeding and to weigh him next week. But I gave him a bottle today and he seems so much happier and satisfied! He took 5oz in the end. I am planning to take the HV advice for this week though. My question is if I want to give up breastfeeding all together, how do i do this and over what period of time? Is this likely to be painful and when will I stop producing milk?

    Thanks x

I stopped when my LO was around 3 weeks as it just wasn't working out and I was utterly miserable. It didn't take as long as I'd expected for my milk supply to dwindle - but I'd aim to make the switch over a few days. Gradually increase the amount of formula and decrease the amount of breast milk, and your breast milk will automatically adjust to the drop in demand. If at any point you feel as if your boobs are are about to explode, expressing a little bit will help (you can do this by hand if you prefer - it's amazing how little it actually takes to relieve the pressure). I know everyone's different, but for me it wasn't that bad - I woke up at night a couple of times with painful boobs, but squeezing out a bit of milk helped immediately. The emotional pain and the guilt was far worse than the physical pain, but I now have a very happy, healthy and thriving 10-month old who loves her (formula) milk :) Do what's best for you: happy mummy = happy baby. Big ((hug)) to you x
