Hi everyone, I'm after some more reassurance after a stressful day. Lo doesn't seem to want to feed today. He's literally having 5 mins on the breast here and there. When he's not sleeping he's crying. Is he unwell? I've started him on hungry baby food in a bottle once in the evening if that makes a difference.DS born November 2013 :smileyhea0

Bangton - my little girl is a similar age, she'll be 11 weeks on Sunday.
I found the last few weeks by 8 - 8:30 pm she had enough of being in the lounge with us, she'd be moving her head side/side and not settling so I decided to take her into our room just to see if it would make any difference and it did.
I can only put it down to the fact that she likes complete quite/darkness at what she seems to deem as her bedtime. Sometimes and I say sometimes we've had her sleep from 8:30pm - 6:30am. Usually though she is asleep for 8:30pm and wakes at 10:30pm for a feed (6oz bottle) and then sleeps through till roughly 5:30am at which I then make a 9oz bottle as sometimes she'll drink that but mostly she'll have 8oz of it.
It still is a bit random as last night she fell asleep at 8:30pm but woke at 1:30pm for a bottle and at 6am. She was back asleep for 7am and woke at 8:30am and really hasn't slept much today at all. Small cat naps of like 30 mins about 3 times today.
Just got her weighed today and she's 10lb 14oz now, so not bad from her 6lb 8oz birth weight.
I'm back at ww myself, 6 weeks into it and 10lb down. Hopefully won't put on too much over the xmas period though.
We've got our 1st 'date night' tomorrow, it's my husbands xmas work do. Hubby's parents are looking after her at our place but she's never not had one of us at home with her before so whilst I am looking forward to hubby and I going out just us, I'm also dreading getting that ph call to say we have to come home. Really really hoping she get's on okay.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -

I'm not sure it supplementing with one bottle would have any impact on your supply or not, but I guess it could especially if he's still in the age range of cluster feeding xThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
I've never supplemented with a bottle Vic, so not sure what advice to give. I too would be reluctant to introduce it during the evening cluster feeding, but if he's used to it, I don't think that would suddenly make a difference for one day. How often are you feeding? If you're trying every hour or so if he's grumpy, try a little further apart, you may feel he gets more substantial feeds. (although may be contraversial!) x0

Is it just today he's like this? Babies do all sorts of weird things. Some days they're easy, other days nothing you do seems to calm them. You just get used to the ups and downs and come to realise it's all completely normal and they don't always behave like *this*, sometimes they're like *that*.
If it's just today or the past few days, I wouldn't change a thing. You're trying to breastfeed him - stick with it, you shouldn't need to supplement because he's had an off day. Sometimes they just do."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Thanks everyone. The supply of my milk isn't a problem- I woke up leaking for the first time. We've done nothing different today, apart from he has only wanted very short feeds. I usually give him one bottle only a day at around 9pm followed by a short breast feed as it helps him to sleep. He was waking every two hours on breast feeding only but now only wakes once or twice in the night. Today he's fed every three hours but hasn't wanted much...as I write this he is currently feeding and has been for almost an hour so far
I think I'm going to put it down to an 'off' day, probably because he's picked up on my tiredness as I was up all night with his daddy who had some sort of sickness bug.DS born November 2013 :smileyhea0 -
Sorry I mis read I thought it had been going on a while. Definitely, once you've got it all sussed, they like to change it up!The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Hi ladies,
Can I join and ask a TMI question straight away?!
I'm abi, mum to dd1 (7.5) & dd2 who is now 2.5 weeks old
I had a v bad 3rd degree tear with dd1 which healed very very well with no real pain or problems. Unfortunately I also got a 3rd degree tear with dd2 altho it wasn't as extensive as first time round. Its been 2.5 weeks now and I'm finding the internal stitches v painful at times. I don't have a fever or feel unwell so I don't think they are infected. I'm sure they had all disolved by this stage last time but they are still there this time round.
Has anyone else gone through this twice and found it harder second time? I am wondering if its cos its scar tissue thats been stitched making it worse?? Is there anything I can do to ease the pain? I can't soak in a bath as our boiler needs replacing and can't run a hot bath (shower is ok and obv I am keeping the area clean etc). I have used all my antibiotics and pain relief and am taking the odd paracetamol or ibroprufen to help. Its not painful all the time, but going to the loo defo brings on the pain.
Thanks in advance. Will try to post some nice baby related questions next time but this is driving me scatty at the moMarried my lobster in July 2011

Hi abi. I had the same at 2 weeks after and ended up at the doctor having antibiotic cream. It was a godsend and just 10 days later am in no discomfort xxDS born November 2013 :smileyhea0 -
OMG - I didn't know there was such a thing. I knew I should have made an appt this morning, but it wasn't bad at 8am when you have to make appts (if you ring after 8.15 all appts are allocated for the day - its like running a gauntlet!) and then its gotten bad again since.
I guess there won't be anything available over the counter for this sort of thing?Married my lobster in July 2011
