Hope everyone's well. Haven't posted for a while but things going better with my lo since he went on lactose free milk. Sorry to ask for advice again but I saw my sil today who said she put her baby down at 8 every night no matter what and that was bedtime but I'm not doing that at moment. Lo goes down at 11pm which is the time he chooses. At the moment he's sleeping 5-6 hrs from then and then getting up for the day so the later he is down the more normal the time he's getting up in a morning! ! It's all going a bit wrong really as he used to sleep another 2-3 hrs after waking but in the last week to 10 days he stopped with that and I'm shattered. He's hungry on waking so wondering if I should stock him up with a bigger feed early morning. On plus side I'm finding motherhood much better. Lo brings us so much joy. Sucks his thumb now which is funny as he slurps like mad. He's 10 weeks. Only thing is Im a bit lonely! !0

We have these from Lindam and they're fabWe have four - one for each kitchen entrance, one at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom of the stairs. When I went round looking at nurseries last year, I asked a couple of them which stair gates they'd recommend and they both said Lindam; one said that no child had ever managed to open them, whereas when they'd tried other, cheaper ones, there'd always be at least one clever child able to figure it out
Some stair gates involve screws and drilling - I'd go for one that doesn't as it's far less faff and you're not left with holes in the walls afterwards.0 -

Glad things are looking up a bit Bangton. How old is he now? Can't remember if you're bfing or not? I'd say if he's hungry when he wakes, feed away. Some people get on well with dream feeds, when you put bubs down at their bedtime, say 7 for example, then when you're off to bed at 11 or whenever give them a feed then but try to not wake them too much. Personally I didn't have any luck with that as he just wouldn't feed when he was asleep. But could be worth a try. I do know that when we started putting him down at 7pm it was AMAZING to have our evening back!

Stair gates - we have one the same as nutella's,and one other lindam that I think is just the older model (given it second hand from a friend) mil has yet another lindam and its soooo annoying - you have to squeeze a bit on the bottom of the handle while pressing on the top bit, and just feels really flimsy and awkward. Would drive me potty if I had to use it every day.Newborn thread member

I've lost 2kgs in the last week running after LO! Not complaining really, but can't continue like this as I really can't afford new clothes at the moment
On stair gates, we've got two safety 1st ones. They are pressure fixed and we've one into the kitchen from the living room, and one on the landing with an extension piece.
Bangton A used to go down late-ish, which she chose but gradually she brought it forward. Following her lead, I started a proper evening routine at 6 months and she's now down between 7:30 and 8pm every day. I think it does depend a bit on how strictly you'd like to conform to a routine and how comfortable you feel with it. I'm very baby-led, and it works for me - but it doesn't work for everyone.
Have you tried out any groups near you? I go to my local children's centre and have made friends with a few mums there. I also find it has given a little structure to my week which I needed, we go to 2 groups at the children's centre and our swimming lesson so I know on at least 3 days I'll see other people and I have two days where I can either arrange things or just "potter". At the same time, if we've had a bad night I don't feel guilty not going to the groups either.
Benice glad that you're having a good day
Oscar Yay for the weight gain!
MrsH Yay for proper crawling!! And pulling up - hehe the fun really beginsGood luck too for the helmet
claretsgirl I don't think I'd have coped if she started proper crawling that early! We did backwards crawling for a few weeks before going forwards but that was easier to manage as she'd go back, get stuck, then cry. Ha ha A keeps trying to catch the cat, a couple of times she's gotten in touching distance if the cat is asleep but her excited squeals at having gotten that near soon send the cat scurrying off.
My friend clears out her LO's toys whilst she is at nursery, and if she's not played with them for a month.
Trying to pack for a self-catering holiday whilst chasing a little one who only wants to stand and cruise on anything she shouldn't get hold of is shattering!
Hope that you have a good few days ahead; I may manage to read but am unlikely to be able to post unless they've dramatically improved the phone network where we're staying so take care and have a good rest of the week all x0 -

I've got a babydan from John Lewis. It's really good because you can just kick it shut quickly so if your baby's making a bid for freedom and your hands are full of dirty nappy you can still prevent him/her from escaping. I wondered if I'd trip on the bottom bar but I never have. It's at Freddie's door so I can turn his bedroom into a cage for when I want to go to the loo in peace. We don't have them for the stairs and now he can pretty much go up and down them (down is an interesting technique) it's highly unlikely we ever will.

I have a lindem gate, but we don't use it really. We moved from a flat to a house with stairs and have just taught him to go up and down them and he's ok with them now when he goes into a bed rather than a cot I may stick one on the stairs so he can't fall down them sleepily. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Starting to lose it with BFing, almost 9 weeks in and still have ridiculous oversupply issues! This morning there was so much 3oz came out of its own accord :S Every feed is a battle now with her fighting me and refusing to eat so I've been desperately bottling the stuff that's coming out as she gets increasingly more stressed! I've been to some breastfeeding cares but they've just said to catch it in a muslin, I have thanks, but it will start again as soon as she starts sucking. I feel sorry for her because if she even will have any she ends up coughing or choking then is afraid to go back on. Just feeling sad that our special relationship isn't making her very happy0
