He'll get there MrsH. Sorry I can't remember how old your LO is (I'm sure I left my brain in bed today :o) But as LO gets a bit older your OH will probably find it easier. Sounds like a cop out, I know, but Dads can feel out of their depth with small babies and often find older babies/toddlers much easier to interact with!

Ah MrsH2b that does sound tough. But I agree with Delain, when they're little and don't really interact a huge amount I think the dads feel a bit lost with them. My OH is definitely better now G is bigger - G know who to go to for cuddles and who to go to for rough and tumble!

Its funny though - my OH can come in from work and basically sit and read the ipad for a bit and G is just happy to be around him, whereas if I were to sit and read for a bit he'd be all over me instantly! And then Daddy will sit up and play like a lunatic for 10 minutes then go back to chilling out and G seems perfectly content with that. But am I allowed to sit and chill out? Ohhhhhhh no ;)

14 is about right. If more, you need permission from the custard cream police.

One full packet it reasonable (it keeps things nice and tidy). I would say 2 packets is excessive, but would be proud of your achievement :o

MrsH, sounds tough at the mo. I find it easier not to be around sometimes when OH is with T, he doesn't do what I think, he'll not pick up on T's little mannerisms to know when he is tired, or about to kick off.... but he does look after him in his own way, and T loves him to bits, so must be doing something right. If we're both in the room, it's me that "sorts" T, DH just tip taps away on his laptop, or has a quicky kip.

We've put out tree up today. Took us 1 hr and 4 shops to pick an artificial tree (we're not picky just didn't want 7ft, a tinsel tree, or ASDA value). Got a 6 ft in the end (want it up on our coffee table, so should still fit) and bonus, as I was putting it up, it's split in 3, so we've just put the top 2 sections up, making a 4ft tree. Fits on the table perfectly with nice flashing lights for T. He looks at it, but hasn't tried to reach out for it (I think he realises it's not within stretching distance) and is far more excited about the box so far!

    Something that make me smile:

I agree re OHs (in general) not always picking up on their little mannerisms - and to be fair that's totally understandable given how much more time we (again, generalisation but ykwim) as mums spend with them. My OH has maybe 30mins in the morning and an hour, hour and a half tops with him in the evening on a weekday, so it stands to reason I'll know his ways a bit better when I'm with him all day, every day.

Hmm, 2packs sounds like a challenge! They're so moreish!

  • Evening everyone. Seems the only time I get on here nowadays is to complain about something or to ask questions :o

I put back the girls 12 month jabs as they were ill the last time and now Mollie is very snotty and snuffly again tonight. And the jabs are due tomorrow . Not sure if we will need to postpone again. Do we have to get it done before a certain age? They are 13 and half months now.

I've suddenly gone very nervous about the jabs. I really should stay away from google :(

Someone was talking about relatives who smoke. The girls came home from Nanny and Grandad's this morning after staying overnight. I had to strip them and throw everything in the washing machine. Even the clean clothes. And the girls hair smelled of it too. I hate confrontation. Looks like I'm going to have to say something though. I suppose there's no nice way of saying it eh :o

As for the Daddys who interact with LO's, my husband would rather spend all day pottering in the kitchen and saying he's tidying up. I've absolutely no idea what he does in there for all that time but he manages to spend hours in there. Don't get me wrong, he talks to them and makes them laugh but at the most that's for 10 mins. He gets up at 3pm and they don't go bed til 8pm :(

  • Just a quick update from me. We finally seem to have had success in getting LO to take and keep down a comfort formula which tops up the expressed bm from me. Fingers crossed she gains half a pound this week, otherwise she will likely be admitted to hospital.

The strain is starting to show on OH, and I feel like I have to keep us all going. I have never felt less Christmassy in my life!

Oh no Oscar :( it might not be the worst thing, as if they can see how violently sick she is with formula they will maybe try to get the bottom as to why.

Lots of hugs lovely and praying for a weight gain for little miss x
