Hope everyone is well, been a bit manic here today to be honest, only going to be in for a couple of hours before I have to go and get the monsters again... I've been in a couple of charity shops this morning and got a really nice long grey cardigan with a crochet bit on the back for £7.99 :j (nicer than I make it sound:o) couldn't find any nice kid's stuff in the right sizes today. I need to get some soft toys for DD1 as she has asked for some for Christmas (she's at secondary school!!) and I'm not paying £20 odd a toy on top of what she's got already for xmas.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Evening ladies
Well, LO was given her first Christmas card today - addressed to her from one of the 1 year olds in her music group... I'm obviously not up to speed on some "mummy etiquette" as I didn't realise my baby should be handing out Christmas cards!
delain your cardi sounds lovely, and just like what I've been looking for actually! My sister went through a phase in her twenties of wanting cuddly toys for presents...
tiny_courageous hope that [STRIKE]LO[/STRIKE] you enjoy your trip to London and all the lightsand that LO behaves for you. They grow so quickly don't they! I've got all the 0-3 and 3-6 clothes boxed up in the loft for the moment.
katiechoc hehe if passersby are parents they'll have been there, if not well they should be minding their own business anyway. Nothing Christmassy planned this weekend except putting our tree up, somewhere high!
lazywife glad that T had a good night for youSo did you get inspiration for the stocking?
savage Happy Birthday to little savage for Sunday :T Bet it seems as though the year has flown past
We're off to another birthday party tomorrow, with decorating in between. Hope every one has a lovely weekend x0 -
Delain is this any use? Reduced soft toys in BHS
Tiny, have fun in London.
Saf, babies giving each other Christmas cards? Not at this age I'm afraid that's not something I'll be starting!
T sleeping well in his own room. Stocking coming on nicely.
I'm feeling a bit rough though. Just achy and headache, want to curl up in bed, but that doesn't happen any more does it? Also T now has top and bottom teeth, if a great new feeling for him, I can tell as he grinds them together.... eeeeeeew! The noise goes right through me! (on the plus side he doesn't bite whilst bf now, so I guess i should be thankful)
Have a good weekend all.x0 -
We decided to just get the jabs over with. We spoke to the doc first and he said as long as Mollie hadn't got a temp to just have them.
Wasn't a nice experience but then, they never are! They only cried for a few minutes then we took their minds off it with chocolate :rotfl:
We had to stay home today instead of going to a friends LO's 1st birthday party. We are all ill now. Mollies got an awful cough and Amelias just started with the snotty nose and she must feel poorly cos she keeps crying and holding her head in her hands. OH's had his bad chest for a week and I've just started with it too. Woe is us :rotfl:I sent OH to get some cough medicine for the LO's, didn't realise they had stopped selling it!
He came home with a Tixylix honey and lemon solution instead so will give that a go.
We have gone from only giving the girls a play-tunnel for Christmas to now having:
Play-tunnel, nursery rhyme cd for the car, hello kitty play kitchen (only small), a small armchair each, some books, a play mat, a doll each and possibly a doll pushchair. Doesn't sound much when I write it down but no idea where all this is going to live as well as the mountain of presents they will be getting from everyone else
Tiny C, hope you have a lovely weekend in London
Saffagal, happy belated birthday
Is everyone done for Christmas? I'm dreading going into town shopping. Hoping I can leave the girls with relatives while I go in otherwise it will be a nightmare. That's if they will look after them while they are full of colds!:j:T Gorgeous twin girls born 1st Nov 2012 :T:j0 -
Forgot to say, we took the girls to see Santa at Kiddicare yesterday. Definitely recommend it. It is a 30 minute workshop with Elf Entertainment (lots of jumping around and singing) and they get a lovely prezzie after chatting to Santa. Was only £3 each or 2 kids for £5
Amelia was laughing and smiling the whole way through and Mollie was weighing up Santa the entire time with a very serious look on her face!:j:T Gorgeous twin girls born 1st Nov 2012 :T:j0 -
I've got hand, foot and mouth disease. Not pleasant and something to look out for in your little ones as it's a common childhood virus. My mouth is a mass of festering sores and feels like it's been napalmed. Thankfully Freddie seems OK. I think he had it mildly - was off his food and had a pimply rash on his bottom - but he seems to have recovered now."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Nutella, I seem to remember you flew long haul with your baby a while back. We are doing the same soon. Did you manage to find cheap wrapped 'toys' or any other tips?
I wrote a long post with general tips a few weeks ago - it's at the top of page 300 of this thread in case you want to have a look
On toys specifically, we took a couple of books (peekaboo-type books are good; anything with flaps and textures and stuff to do - your aim is to make them remain interesting for as long as possible), a little wind-up dinosaur from Sainsbury's, this wooden threading apple (a big hit; kept her occupied for ages, and is now hidden away to keep it interesting for our next flight next week!) and this colour wonder pad, which is brilliant for flights as well as restaurants, as the special pens leave no colour anywhere but on the pad itselfIf you have a Tiger shop near you, I'd recommend having a look there for cheap and small toys, and poundshops and supermarkets too - you're probably aiming for quantity rather than quality given the attention span of small children! And bring lots of food that takes a looooong time to eat

My LO got one this week from a fellow 19-month-old at the nursery. We might do some next year, when she'll be able to make some herself, but I'm not writing cards on her behalf for children who can't read or understand them!0 -
Hi all. Not sure of the etiquette around here but is it ok if I join you? I have my DD 6months old.0

I'm slightly ashamed to admit that I've done 90% of my xmas shopping on Amazon. Yes, I know it's killing the high street, but I just can't face busy shops with an impatient small childAlthough to be honest, I'm probably using LO as an excuse - even before I had her, I'd do most of my shopping online as I'm really not a fan of crowds and queues....
We use Tixylix honey and lemon - LO loves the taste of it, but I'm not sure it's making much of a difference to her coughing to be honest. And it's basically just honey and sugar, but there aren't many alternatives, so certainly worth a go.0
