Hi everyone I haven't posted for ages. Having one problem after another with lo. He's windy and uncomfortable and sicking up more than ever. He's 9 weeks we've tried most brands and lactose free milk. He now won't settle on a night without being held having previously slept 5hrs and then a 4hr stint. I've literally been up 28 hrs holding him and feel like the only person in the world this is happening to. I tried for 7hrs last night to put him down. He's been to docs. .usual colic diagnosis. Just had jabs yesterday wondering if this has added to the not sleeping as last night was the worse yet. Can anyone tell me how their babies responded to vaccine. I'm so blue at moment! !

Didn't want to reply beneath a silly pic.

I take it you've tried infacol, dentinox and gripe water? I believe you can combine infacol and gripe water but I'm not 100% on that so you might want to check first. Gaviscon for reflux/sickness too.

Best thing I found for Eilis was giving her cooled boiled water between feeds. She wouldn't take it through a bottle so I've had to use a syringe but it really does help - she does the biggest burps you've ever heard after it. Grown men would be proud of them!

She's just waking up so I have to cut this off but I'll pop back on later if I can think of anything else xx

Hi lovely, I wouldn't accept the 'colic' diagnosis, but probably until around 12 weeks most GP's will say it is that. If you still don't have any joy then, I'd look into some sort of intolerance. Although with him only being 9 weeks, it can take up to 10 days on a new milk to see a difference, so I'm not sure how long you've been trying them before switching to another. Also liquid ready made formula is slightly different make up to powder.

If you're concerned though, go to your GP, ask for a referral to a consultant, they cannot refuse and I tend to think they know a bit more about certain things. Also have you been given any sort of meds for reflux or anything? Massive hugs, I had one who had to be held all the time, we used to take it in turns to sit up in bed with him on us, for 2-3 hours at a time at night so we both got little stints, my OH worked 30 hours and was doing his dissertation and final year of uni, so don't let OH use work as an excuse not to do it, unless of course he drives or operates machinery for a living. xxx

    morning
sorry to hear about the bad hospital experiences Delain & Claree.

my goodness I must be a bad influence with the half price bags & star blankets

cute picture Amus. does bubs like the blanket? I'm going to try my LO in it again today.

lobey, what a worrying test! I do feel like only 5% of my bump has gone. I'm starting to wonder whether the bump will go.

Yes she seems to, had her in it yesterday swapping her between car seat and carrier and she stayed asleep! Thanks for posting never even knew these existed, great purchase for a winter baby.

I would definitely try the docs again, have they considered reflux, they can give medication for this.

Is there anybody who can come round and have baby for a bit to give you a break?

Does this make me a bad mother? :D

Thanks for your replies. My mum came today so I could have 2 hrs sleep and I'll have some when oh gets home too. He had his jabs yesterday so hoping that's the problem last night and that I'll sleep. Tried all remedies and he is on the different milks for around 2 weeks before ever swapping. Currently just been put on lactose free milk as he's congested but it's only been 2 days. Thanks for the boiling water suggestion claree.. my mum did it today and he seems quite clear of griping at moment. I'm just so tired I have to go out to get him to nap in day so a totally sleepless night means a sleepless day too until oh gets back. He's great but I pray things will just settle back again as I'm not coping well and feeling anxious. I struggle to see how things will miraculously become well again at 12 weeks or so but some people have told me they will so I have to hold on to it :(

Claree she's totally gorgeous. .I love the outfit!!!
  • Just got 2 big bin bags of clothes for LO (as he's starting to be in age 3-6 months already) for £20 off a facebook seller. Over 90 things, all really good quality, I'm well made up. The washing machine and tumble dryer are both working overtime this evening!

Taking LO on his first long journey tomorrow, off to visit family about 2 hours drive away. A bit nervous, but we'll see how we go (assuming the weather actually lets us go, it's grim up north!)
  • Claree that's just being a good mum and creating nice memories :)

Bangton that sounds awful. *big hugs*I tried baby massage which helped a bit. My friend uses comfort milk which can help. You could look on youtube for the 'tiger in the tree' pose which can really help with wind. After trying infacol & gripe water, the next step can be colief from a pharmacy which can work wonders. It could be silent reflux not colic.

amus I used the wrap today with success - no screaming when I put it on or take it off. I just hope it washes well as LO threw up on it!

Bangton, sorry things have been tough. You can only hope it gets better, at least your mum can come and give you a break sometimes.
Clairee, from the mum who dressed her LO in a tache for 30 days, I think your pic of Eilis is very cute.
Tiny, sounds like a bit of a bargain to me. We travel 2-3hrs every month to see family. I feed T just before we go and try to travel around about the time he has a nap. Tends to sleep the whole journey. (easiest on Motorways as the lull keeps him asleep). You'll be fine.
My friend had her baby today. 33 weeks, so he's only 4lb5oz (but quite big for 33 weeks) don't know if there was any probs, or just unexpected. Seems so small compared to T who was 9lb2oz. I've ordered some extra tiny and tiny baby stuff for her to put on him for the first week or so.
