Evening all - sorry to all with sicky babies, Eilis is just getting over her virus I think (day 3 of no calpol and she's okay!) but it really is wonderful stuff!
We also bought a star blanket, just waiting for it to arrive - I'm excited lol.
I had my rearranged consultant appointment today. She explained that baby was getting distressed which was probably 'cause of my quick labour and they had to cut me slightly and then I had some quite big tears and my womb wasn't contracting so there was a LOT of blood. She did say they only took me into theatre for ease and comfort (for me) but they COULD have fixed me up in the delivery suite - which is quite comforting 'cause it somehow sounds less serious?
She also apologised for the crappy care that I got in the ward which was nice. I didn't want to complain as such but I'd like to make a point of it to try to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else so she suggested I write a letter which I think I'll do.My Debt Free Diary

Just ordered a Close Caboo sling. Have a mothercare one which is buckles and velcro all over but seems quite small, put baby in and he just didn't seem to fit. Has anyone used a caboo? I've been watching demo videos on youtube and it seems pretty straightforward. Need a sling for my trips to London as I don't much fancy a pram on the tube!0

I'm sending my caboo back to kiddicare. It's soooo finicky to put on and I CBA with it. Going to use a carrier instead.DS born November 2013 :smileyhea0 -
I have a Moby wrap that I'm a little bit in love with... I like the look of the Caboo but have never tried one.
Need to find something a little more hardy for doing Christmas markets in in a couple of weeks, I love my wrap but would feel better if there was a bit more of a barrier/padding between Jack and the (mulled wine/cider fuelled) market goers... (weekend before xmas, seemed a good idea at the time).0 -

I have a condition called Transverse Myelitis, which I got when heavily PG with Squeak and they thought it was MS at the time. I could only sort of drag myself along next to a wall and not walk across an open space as I'd lost a lot of movement in one leg and gone numb up to my chest on the other side... They induced me at 37 weeks so they could give me steroids for it.
A HCA on the postnatal ward without looking at my notes, took one look at my crutches and said 'This is a hospital, not a hotel and you have to collect your own breakfast' obviously with no knowledge or regard for the fact I couldn't walk anywhere, and had just been told I had MS
I didn't say anything and just skipped breakfast for the next few days... Then a different overnight HCA came on and asked if I needed it fetching and was very :eek: to find out what the other HCA had said and was going to report it.
That was only one person and everyone else was lovely, but especially when you are hormonal (and probably still feel like a horse kicked you in the stomach!) it's important for staff not to be outright rude!
Now we all have coldsfeel rubbish!

Claree nice to get some answers.
I had a moby wrap, but only wore it about the house for LO to sleep in, never wore it out and about. I think it was probably the hot summer that put me off. We've since bought a Stokke carrier off ebay (but a proper one, I think you have to be careful of fakes) and we get on well with that (DH will wear it too).
Saf, I'm not keen on crying it out. T wakes regularly about 1am and sometimes 4am too. One he will settle, but I have to still get up. Then the past couple of nights he's gone through. I'll bet I'll be up loads tonight! I don't like the idea of crying it out. I'd take the little by little approach. But as she's learnt so many new things recently I think she's too busy plotting how to clamber up your christmas tree than trying to sleep!
T's top teeth are starting to come through. They don't seem to be giving him too much bother, but he's pooing loads. 2-3 a day, and now he's on proper food, they are extremely unpleasant. Ending up running a bath and dunking him to clear up the last one... it was not to be contained in his nappy!
Christening on Sunday, then I can start to get all Christmassy... I loooooove Christmas!!!!

It was in the anti natal ward I had awful care. I was 2-3cm dilated when I was examined at 6am so she gave me a sweep and said they'd get me to the labour ward asap. At 8 I started contracting and by 9 I was in agony but I was told I wasn't in labour and my husband wasn't allowed in 'till visiting time. Longdstory short, by the time I got to the labour ward at 11 I was over 9cm dilated. Pretty good for not having been in labour! My Debt Free Diary
