Currently celebrating a short moses basket stint in progress...

A not quite swaddled but closely wrapped up Jack is lying happily (for the moment)... on his side (hates being on his back)... on a slightly raised mattress... in his basket... which was pre-heated with a hot water bottle...

I on the other hand am sat lonely on the couch, with said hot water bottle... missing my cuddles.......
Despite the effort that went in to getting him to even go into the basket at all... I'm pretty sure that 99% of the issue is me :D

Well done for the short stints when you put them down. It will get better (sometimes, and then there will be days you feel like you can't put them down at all!). I still tend to work by 30 mins of putting down time per day. I might not get much more than that if LO is being fussy, but can get 2.5hrs or so somedays. I would say get LO used to being put down to sleep at night 1st, then work on the days. For me, I can cope with doing nothing in the day if atleast I've had some sleep.
As for the white nipple ends, I find that if they're sore they'll go whiteish. I thought I was just a bit of thickening due to a lazy latch, but maybe HV could give you some advice.
I've a realisitic question to those of the older LOs. Have any of you got back to your pre pregnancy weight (or anyone hasn't!?!). Now I've started BLW I've tried to stop the food frenzy I've seemed to get into the habit of, but going back to another stone (or 2?!?!) lighter just doesn't seem realisitic. Can't exercise the way I used to (we'd go for 6-7 mile walks most weeks) and can't really get into the change of lifestyle I need. Feeling a bit fat and frumpy I'm afraid.
    Hope everyone else is good.x

I put on three stone whilst pregnant, and got back to my pre-pregnancy weight through sheer bloodymindedness coupled with having a baby that wouldn't sleep unless in the buggy or on me - we walked for miles in those days! BUT - I've put the weight back on again (and then some) thanks to going back to work and being permanently knackered and hence comfort eating crap :( But I have high hopes - I signed up to Slimming World online a few days ago, and so far I'm loving it (and I've even done my first-ever weekly meal plan :D); here's hoping it works, as I've been yo-yo dieting for years :o It's been recommended by a number of people on here.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself though, and take it slow - it's amazing what slightly fewer biscuits and a bit more walking can do. You'll get there. I also found that things like make-up and a haircut made me feel slightly less fat and frumpy... :o
  • I yo-yo'ed between my pre preg weight and an extra half a stone which takes me ages to lose but only an hour to put on!!
I find my body shape is so different though. My legs and hips are smaller but now any extra weight goes straight to my stomach which I haaatteeee!

I cant wear nice pencil skirts if I havent shifted my stomach weight as its very jiggly!!

Me and my sis have started going swimming in the last month which I really like and hopefully it helps!

Nutella I agree, going back to work is a weight gainer! We are just around the corner from a Superdrug and its hard to say no when someone is doing a 'supers run' x

I was lucky to loose the 2st 6lbs I gained during pregnancy & an additional 4lbs by the time Rebecca was 4 weeks old! (But I was very ill in hospital for a week & completely lost appetite) but I'm still extremely overweight but keep finding excuses ATM!

I'm full of cold today & think I caught it from Rebecca!

Been to doctors today to discuss reflux & thrush issues - this doc gave me gaviscon for her as I was worried that she is extremely uncomfortable & sometimes in pain after feeds but when it came to the thrush nappy rash he fobbed me off saying it is common & it doesn't look sore - totally not the point as we have been applying cream for over a month & it looked like it was getting better but Friday new little blisters appeared - surely she shouldn't have a bad bum for this long (6weeks)!?!?!?

I want to start using our reusable nappies but until the thrush has gone I don't want to risk re contaiminating as I didn't think I should wash nappies in 60deg too often as it could ruin them - but buying disposables is expensive & seems a waste as I have the reusables already!

Visited a friend last week & came home with 2 black sacks of clothes & a baby swinger! & another friend said that when she gives birth & it's definitely a boy I can have all her little girls clothes! We will not have to buy clothes until she goes to school at this rate!

The clothes I ordered from pumpkin patch arrived last week but the sleeping bags were our of stock so I just got 2 snowsuits for £8!

    Sorry for the essay!

My LO had thrush as a side effect of antibiotics. Normal nappy rash cream wont clear it, we had clotrimazole on prescription and it went in afew days.

I would go back to your docs if it hasnt cleared up by now x x x

    !

It might not be thrush. My LO had a terrible rash (which started on her bits) and also on her tummy - and I was prescribed with thrush cream. It didn't clear it up and it turned out to be a viral rash - nothing we could do about it apart from air her bum a bit (pampers nappy change sheets are great for this) and be patient. It took a good month for it to go - and it does come back occasionally. I would ask for a second opinion as it doesn't sound like just "normal" nappy rash to me - and sounds more like the viral rash that my LO had.

Hope everyone is ok - we are thankfully better after our horrid weekend - haven't had time to read back yet - but I did want to say (or sing) to Nutella - "I'm a gummy bear..." :-)

Squeak loves that gummy bear song. As does my 11 year old, who loves spending time with Squeak, who can, as a consequence, sing 'dumb ways to die' and is quite familiar with annoying orange

We've had good success with walking and swimming, I'm down from a size 18 last Christmas to a size 14 now :D just hoping for staying the same over Christmas then lose some more after hopefully :o
Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession :o:o

Sorry MrsH not something we've had a problem with here. T had a lot of hair though, so could have an odd shaped head underneath. NHS online suggests leave well alone at this age (had to google the name)
Thank you for all your honesty in pregnancy weight loss. I think I honestly know it's my bad habits now, not the pregnancy weight (I lost 1.5 stone of it at 1st and have put 0.5 stone on again in the past 6 months!?!?) as of yesterday I'm going to get sensible with what I eat. I think you're right Nutella, a few less biscuits here and there will start to make a difference. Hopefully as the bf then starts to drop off I'll be in better habits. And you're right Sunshine, my body shape is completely different. Although I sort of dont mind. I've always put weight on my tummy ..... I've had the "ooooh good news I see!" comments for years, it was a relief when I could say yes I'm expecting(!) , so now my tummy is a little jiggly rather than firm but rounded I at least look like I've had a baby not like there's one on the way!
Nessie, sorry for your LOs rash. Bottom end has never really been a problem with T. He's more rashy round his face, food linked I think, but more what he eats directly that what I eat then nursing off me. (Means I can still have peanut butter.... Aha.... Maybe links to the lack of weight loss.... Note to self: less pb, more likely to fit in clothes). Hopefully something will clear it up soon.
We've started to baby proof now as T can definately move, and quickly! It's not a crawl as such, more like a stealth army commando tummy wriggle but whatever it is, he moves at pace. It's only really the lounge, his room and our bedroom that he's on the floor, so they're where I've moved stuff around a bit. I'm afraid we're going to cop out of Christmas a little bit. Going to get a tree to stand on a side table. He can't pull himself up yet, so think that might be safer!
