Morning all, getting C to bed earlier seems to be working better for us, it takes maybe 30 mins to bed him to sleep which is much better. The downside is that he is waking for 2 feeds at 1 and 4 and is waking up for the much earlier. DH is back and am interested to see how well we can keep to his new bedtime.
Having a big of a rough time with DH re finances . Before C was born we agreed I would take some unpaid leave and return to work when he is 8 months old. It seems he forgot about the unpaid part and is claiming we never discussed it! I haven't been able to save any money because I carry all the expenses on the car and tax and insurance have been renewed in the last 2 months plus MOT in January. I put something's for th house and c's cotbed on my creditcard assuming these were joint expenses which apparantely now they were not so I have a massive (for me, I normally pay in full each month) creditcard bill, no presents for Christmas and somehow need to find the money to pay my half of the mortgage and bills for feb and march. It's not like DH is being tight, he is busy putting all of his spare cash into the house but I am mad that he has money to go out and buy clothes/ books and CDs and I am stuck at home in a freezing house with C a dwindling source of income, hardly any clothes that fit and facing the reality that it is likely I have to go back to work alot sooner than I would like.
Apparently the source of the problem is my failure to communicate but I reckon he just doesn't listen. I have been away from c for more than 2 hours since he was born and although I know I am lucky to get to spend so much time with him, the no break, no nights out with friends, no clothes to wear even if I could get out is getting me down. I knew that having a baby would mean sacrifices I just didn't think it would all be in me.
Sorry a bit if a woe is me post, On the plus side I am back to my pre-preg weight and have been able to add another pair of jeans to my limited pile of clothes that fit.0 -

Uhm, if that's sad, then how sad am I for looking forward to Sunday when LO can start wearing her (very cute) Christmas pyjamas?!..... :rotfl:0 -
Sucks Lao
wish I could be more helpful but is it worth having a conversation about pooling your finances? I'm not sure how I'd manage on mat pay if we didn't share everything x

Sounds tough Lao. I think Clare's right, surely it's only fair to pool things - atleast til you get back to work. And the cotbed atleast is a joint purchase IMO. Hope you get it sorted.
We're off up to mils again, got 10 properties to look at so hopefully we can find the over and get things moving ASAP!Newborn thread member

Went to a bumps & bundles group today which was good fun. Encountered a really rude woman at the shop on the way though. She was asking about Eilis and then asked if I was still with her daddy - which is bad enough! - then when I said yes she went "Oh really?!" I was raging!!My Debt Free Diary

Hi all, I hope I'm in the right place as I've just graduated from the pregnancy thread. I gave birth to Thomas on Sunday morning, three days earlier than my due date.
Anyway, I'm not sure what protocol to follow here so I'll just lurk for a while if that's ok and join in when I can.
Hope to see some other pregnancy thread graduates and talk to some other new mummies soon xxDS born November 2013 :smileyhea0 -

Congratulations and welcome to the thread!Hope all is well with you and your little man. There's no 'protocol' as such - I like to think we're a friendly and supportive bunch, with some of us posting several times a day and others dipping in and out when time allows. Please do make yourself at home over here - I think you'll recognise a number of people from the pregnancy thread

Welcome vic3 and Congratulations on the birth of Thomas
As Nutella said, we're quite a friendly bunch some of who post a lot and others as time and little ones allow.
Claree I would have lost it!!!:eek: some people are beyond belief! Glad though that bumps and bundles was good
On birthdays, last year OH forgot to book my birthday off, despite LOTS of prompting, and by the time he tried to he couldn't so I had the day off, on my own. This year he's managed to book the day off, but because he left it late again couldn't get the week. On the present front, he generally asks for ideas but does do amazingly on his own at times - last year he got me a tablet which has been BRILLIANT on all those night feeds/day feeds/when I was (and sometimes still am) tied to the sofa with a feeding/napping little one. I don't like surprises so him asking for an idea suits meLike your OH sunshine he doesn't think about sentimental things like a photo mug etc
My cousin put up his THREE Christmas trees today - I think it is too early (at least until my birthday is done). I've bought LO a Christmas outfit, and we're taking her on a special train trip on Sunday before she gets to meet Santa for the first time and I'm really REALLY excited to be able to put her in her special Christmas outfit
lao_cat that's really tough on the money front; I know I'd not manage if OH and I hadn't discussed and then changed how we split the bills whilst I'm on mat leave to ensure that we both have some "me" money each monthThis month though has been very tough for me as I've just had to get two new tyres for my car as wel as some other essential work done and as its my car (OH has his own car) that's not a shared costI think a talk with him is needed as LO is both your responsibility and looking after LO is a FULL TIME job. AND :T for getting back to pre-preg weight
MrsH hope that you enjoyed your lunch out today; perhaps you should book in some "me" time sessions - one for each of OH's gym sessions. Lol OH's can be very silly sometimes!
Have a lovely Friday everyone(and holding thumbs for a good night for all )
