How are you winding him? I used to slowly tip him back (not upside down though) and tap/rub his tummy a couple of times, then tip him back to leaning forward and seemed to clear the wind quicker that patting his back, or rubbing it. With bf I know it makes a big difference what you eat. I would try to steer clear of things that are know to make us a little windy brocolli and cabbage gave T a particular problem. I know if you cut out or reduce your dairy it can help to? Other than that I'm not the bet for advice, others will have more.
At 3 weeks though i seem to remember constantly feeding in the evenings from about 6-9pm... on and off breast, but never wanting to be far from it. Don't worry it does improve, but I remember it being a fair while.

I was keeping him upright after feeds for a good while and patting and rubbing his back, recently tried doing some tummy rubs in clockwise motion with not much luck, walking around and 'bobbing' him seems to be better than sitting stationery.
I'll steer clear of windy food and see if that helps but there is no dairy/lactose in my diet (I'm intolerant).
Thanks for replyingJust feeling a little stressed about how much of it is cluster feeding/growth and how much is misread wind signals...

Babamoose, my LO used to cluster feed in the evenings usually between 5 and 10pm - bobbing on and off the breast. We used to do "row row row your boat" for wind. If I recall correctly, the cluster feeding was at its worst between about 2 and a half weeks and 6 weeks x It does get easier0

Babamoose if you search for 'tiger in the tree' pose then that could help. I also do baby yoga/ massage for wind - maybe you could search for videos on that or do a course. At 3 weeks you could try infacol but I found that gave LO constipation. Wind is still really hard to budge. As for feeds/ hunger, I just try to follow a 'usual' baby pattern of 3 hourly and cluster feeding in the evening and hoping it hits the times when baby is actually hungry. My LO also tended to have a long sleep after a horrible windy day.
lobey & Claree hope your LO's are OK and feel better soon
big hugs Saffagal x
lazywife good luck finding what LO is allergic to
AFM LO was really lovely and smiley for the early part of the day and early afternoon. Now he's a windy grotbags! I've managed to get some burps and a huge belch with different positions and tiger in the tree but I don't think it's the end of it cos he keeps crying. I didn't think having a baby would involve spending so much time winding!0 -
Crikey we just tried 'tiger in a tree' and it worked a treat for the initial movements..! That's a keeper, thanks!
I looked into courses but in my area they are all for 6-8weeks plus so I'll have to wait and muddle through... although I'm sure I can search for some more positions on the net though.0 -
Oooh yeah, Tiger in the Tree worked brilliantly for us. x0

That looks lovely and toasty Nutella! What are you going to do re muddy shoes and footmuff? Just wash it lots or take shoes off?
How is LO now lobey? Hope alls ok.
For wind you can get infacol drops that you give before every feed, or something else that you add to their feed - I think? We used infacol for a few weeks but it didn't make much of a noticeable difference. But G wasn't an overly windy baby. Not sure of the minimum age for it either actually. But maybe worth looking into anyway.
We've had a heck of a day today - a) locked me and G out of the flat, so had to walk into town to meet OHs boss who dropped off OHs keys - it's the best part of a mile each way, pushchairs locked in the car so G had to walk - he was a total star and held my hand perfectly nearly the whole way.
went to softplay where G did a belter of a head first tumble on to a ride on zebra and then the floor. C) got locked out of the car at the supermarket when the battery in the remote key card thing died. Had to get in with a back up key that sets the alarm off so it looked like I was stealing my own car. Phew. Pass the wine.

 Katie! You definitely need wine after the day you've had! And biscuits too. Hope G is OK after his tumble.
The footmuff is like a fleece-lined duvet - I'm actually rather jealous of my LO who gets to wrap it around her and be all nice and snug whilst I have to walk! There's a separate zip for the bottom bit, so you can take it off when shoes are muddy (and/or wash that bit separately), or I could just take her shoes off I guess, but it's actually rare that they get muddy - she tends to stay in the buggy if it's really grubby outside, and when she plays in the garden at the nursery they put her wellies on, so we should be OK I hope!0 -
Luckily G and I baked some yummy shortbread yesterday
Hmm G's shoes are ALWAYS muddy at the moment. Might have to whip them off when he goes back in the buggy. Or take his shoes and put him in wellies when it's bad. He's totally addicted to jumping in puddles - what is it with kids and puddles?! He spots them from a mile away!Newborn thread member
