  • Regarding dummies & trying to get rid - my mil got my bil o give up by saying that father Xmas wouldn't leave presents for big boys (was bout 4-5) with dummies & he had to leave them on the side in Xmas eve - apparently he gave one a few sucks Xmas eve then put them on the side & never looked back again - it appears bribery does work!

Rebecca has been extremely restless over the last couple of days - we definitely get a witching time now in the evenings but she is very hard to settle after nearly every feed - she screams & won't normally take a dummy either! She was like it this morning at the 3am feed & struggled to get her off to sleep again - normally I don't have problems at night - I hope his isn't a sign of things to come!

My weekend is all about visiting people & being visited!

Next week is Rebecca's first jabs - any heads up on what to expect afterwards?

Try not to worry about jabs Nessie. Generally they can make them a little unsettled, but with some you don't notice the difference. I had a crap sleeper anyway so I didn't notice anything, but for us the 2nd seemed to affect him more, the 1st and 3rd lot were fine x

Claree, my 6 month old has started waking for a two hr stint - I just keep all the lights off, no talking to make it as boring as possible. Last night OH actually went in to her as he'd just come up to bed. She wasn't having it - she wanted her mother!
Gilly, that makes a lot of sense re sleep going to pot as major development happens. A's sleep has gotten much worse in the past week and a bit, and in that time her backwards crawling has come on, she's learnt to sit and is going forwards one or two hands/knees.... Come on A - crawl and we can all sleep again!

Re swimming photos, at my local pool you have to complete a permission form and can only take of your child. If another parent/person complains about you taking photos you have to stop.

Sorry I didn't post yesterday; was feeling rather down. I had two MC's before having A. The first was in Nov 2011. Yesterday my neighbour shared her good news that she's pregnant again and due in early June, as we were. I gave A lots of extra cuddles - my precious little rainbow. I know I was just being silly.

I'll be back later - time for breakfast and dressing first.
  • Boo to the bad sleep. T wakes up generally once every night, has a feed and he'll go straight back down again. But you're right, you just get used to one pattern then something changes!
I've had 6 pieces of peanut butter on toast this morning
T's eczema has been well controlled with hydrocortisone and Aveeno cream for past week or so, but yesterday his face got redder again. He was wearing a wool onesie, had nectarines then tomatoes for lunch and PB on toast for brekkie. One of those things must be the trigger, but I really don't want it to be peanut butter as it's my guilty pleasure. I've had it whilst pregnant and bf, not seen an obvious pattern, but I know things can develop.
He's on apple, cheese and crackers today, a safe bet. Then I'll do a bit of experimenting.
(1st of which is back to me eating it so getting it in the breastmilk)

    L.xxx

ps. Saf, a big hug. I guess it's something that's always going to stay with you.x

Huge hugs saf - you're not being silly at all.

I'm at the doctors now, can't stop crying though so this should be fun.
  • Hi again :)

Lobey - Yay for a good nights sleep!!! Hope that you managed to sleep too and weren't up checking on LO ;)

Lazywife Thank you. Fingers crossed it is just one of those things and not the peanut butter! I have read that tomatoes and strawberries can cause cheeks to redden - in A's case it's because of how she holds onto it and occassionally rubs her face into the food? Perhaps T does the same?

Nessie with the jabs, after her first jabs A slept then woke about 3 hrs later screaming so I gave her a dose of Calpol and she settled and went back to sleep with no other side effects. With her second lot had I not been there, I'd not have known she'd had them and with her third she woke a few hours after crying so gave her a dose of calpol and she settled down again.

We have that Rainforest baby gym, and A really enjoyed it! That's a brilliant price for it too.

nene Congratulations and welcome :D He is so cute!

I can't remember who posted about camelcamelcamel - but THANK YOU!!!:T

Right, we're off out; I need a new tyre :( and then we've our music group :) Have a good day everyone

No baby for me, but I thought I'd jump on the thread in case any of you have an Angelcare baby monitor. Just seen a recall article if you have models: AC1100, AC201, AC300, AC401 AC601 and 49255 that did not include rigid cord covers. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2511431/600-000-Angelcare-baby-monitors-recalled-strangulation-deaths.html

Benicetomyself, oats are brilliant for milk supply, so porridge, but me, I'd just make a whole batch of ooey gooey flapjack and munch the lot :)

Motilium that you buy over the counter for other issues ha, is good for supply too but pricey but some GP's will prescribe it as domperidone for women with low supply x

Hmmm makes me feel a little less guilty about all those Hobnobs and Oat and Raisin cookies..... Not sure how much actual oats they contain though as opposed to butter and sugar :D

Re. Dummies. With DS1 I was really worried about taking it away as he loved his dummies. We waited until he two and a half so he could understand and did the 'dummy fairy'. Basically, you make a nice little glittery letter with them asking the dummy fairy to take away all the dummies for the new little babies that need them and ask her to bring you a special present in exchange for them all. At night you leave the dummies with the letter and in the morning there's a present waiting for LO. I honestly did not expect it to work but after that he never once even asked for it!

Personally I think its easier taking it away once they can understand, if I'd tried to take it away earlier I think I would have been in for lots of crying and sleepless nights!
