Doctor thinks she might have a wee virus so I've to give her calpol and see how we go. My friend is coming to take her out for a bit this afternoon which is nice, I'm still not feeling 100% myself. My Debt Free Diary

Re. Dummies. With DS1 I was really worried about taking it away as he loved his dummies. We waited until he two and a half so he could understand and did the 'dummy fairy'. Basically, you make a nice little glittery letter with them asking the dummy fairy to take away all the dummies for the new little babies that need them and ask her to bring you a special present in exchange for them all. At night you leave the dummies with the letter and in the morning there's a present waiting for LO. I honestly did not expect it to work but after that he never once even asked for it!
Personally I think its easier taking it away once they can understand, if I'd tried to take it away earlier I think I would have been in for lots of crying and sleepless nights!
I love this - what a fab ideaI think I've decided to wait for a few more months so we can talk about it rather than having lots of screaming and misery
We had an amazing night - she slept from 7.30pm to 6.20am! :T :T :T Goes to show that she *can* do it once those pesky teeth give her a break0 -
Nessie, my LO pretty much slept for 24 hours after her first jabs, only waking up to feed (nothing has ever made my girl go off her food!), which was actually quite handy, as we were going away the following day and I managed to get all my packing done without stressing! :rotfl: I'd get some Calpol so you've got it in case you need it, but I wouldn't give it to LO unless they seemed poorly or had a temperature.
Oh, and on messy sleep - my LO's never been a good sleeper, but it's always been worse when she's just mastered a new skill. Pulling herself up to standing and finally figuring out crawling were the two biggies - she'd be awake for hours in the middle of the night practising her new skills!0 -
Sigh... Seems naps have been cancelled for today. Hope she's not grotty through music group as a result!0

Hugs Saffagirl and hoping your LO chooses to nap later! Hope all the poorly mums and babies feel better soon!
I had a fright this morning after our good night, put A down in her cot for a nap while I was packing our bags for the weekend and noticed a tiny spot of blood coming out of the corner of her mouth. She's refluxey so I think she coughed it upnone since but keeping an eye on it and not leaving her for a moment today!

Lobey, hopefully it'll not happen again. LO sicked up blood a few weeks ago. It was red and left two 1cm diam blotches on his top, so we got him in with out of hours doctor (it happened at 7pm), they were happy to see him, checked him out and said he was ok. Nothing since.
Keep and eye on it, if it happens again, don't feel bad about seeing doc about it as they'd rather check it over than not.x0 -
Fingers crossed it's nothing to worry about lobey - keep us updated though. I'm with lazywife, I'd go to the doctor for anything you're worried about.
Eilis is at her godmother's this afternoon, last time I checked in she was having a nap. I gave her calpol before she left so hopefully she'll be having a nice wee afternoon. Spending the afternoon updating my CV. I know it's early days but I'm hoping to go into a different sector when I go back so I probably have to start applying early. My Debt Free Diary

I couldn't get an appointment for today so I'll take her to A+E tonight if I'm not happy. She sounds quite chesty so it's probably being some lovely mucus up.0

Will your Dr not see her with being a young baby? At my GPs they always have a few 'emergency' appointments at the end of the day which they tend to reserve for kids.0 -
Hope all the poorly folk get better soon - hope everything is OK with your LO lobey.
I'm angling for some advice if possible... my little man is having trouble with wind... and distinguishing between being hungry and being windy.... but this is also around the time of the '2/3 week growth spurt'.
The result is lots and lots of crying and all the signs that he is hungry, but then some crying and wincing whilst feeding (at which point I take him off and try winding him) and also what seems to be CONSTANT hunger.. especially in the evening.
During the day it doesn't appear to be too bad, evening times it is worse and when the OH comes home from work I think he is finding it quite stressful. Then last night between about 2-4am it was constant tears, trying to feed, crying because of wind, not winding fully...
There was a 4-10.30am sleep that followed this though, which I was very grateful for but my OH didn't benefit from because he had to get up for work.
Basically - windy babies, I know they're common... but are there any tips on how to get them to either be less windy, or solve the wind situation quicker? It seems to take a long time and a LOT of expelling from both ends before the little man is comfortable...
Also, by offering him more BF am I making the situation worse? It is so hard to work out whether he is actually hungry or whether it is trapped wind (and because of the length of time it takes to find out - it is especially hard during the middle of the night).
He will be 3 weeks old on Sunday which is why I am sounding as hopeless as I am..!
Any help gratefully appreciated, don't like to have a sad LO.0
