  • congrats to Nutella & Claree for their good nights.

Bangton glad you're getting support. I have no idea if LO is hungry or tired but in general he'll always take boob if it's offered.

Saffagal glad your LO has a great new toy.

Amus good to see a familiar face.

lobey I'm going to wait until 6 months until LO moves into nursery.

lazywife hope its not too messy for you when LO moves out.

AFM LO becoming more settled fingers crossed. He's currently settling in moses basket at midnight but I'm hoping he'll start going to bed earlier.

hi everyone, sorry if this brings the thread down :( but today has been so so hard and i needed to say something to someone before oh comes home as i think ill bite his head off!

sorry in advance for the moan!

LO still wakes up every 2.5 hours in the night even with us feeding her at 11.30/12, i dont mind that as such shes a newborn but the time i get her down that takes an hour im getting probably about 45 min sleep and then shes awake again!

she has been crying virtually every 15 minutes today, no matter what i do, she normally sleeps for a bit around 12-3 if im lucky but today nothing, really felt like i cant get to the toilet today without her starting to cry. I left her for a bit downstirs crying today while i went upstairs and had a cry for the first time. i can see why they use a crying baby as a torture tactic now :(

i dont know what to do for the best, it just seems that she is constantly full of wind, despite us trying various bottles, all the medicines under the sun and even changing formulas. we manage to wind her and then shes wriggling again when we put her down and shes uncomfortable and cries, so we wind her again and then 5 mins later the same thing, so even when shes down shes really restless.
plus she never seems satisfied she def does not go longer than 3 hours max between feedings even if shes sleeping she will wake straight away and start crying.

this problem just seems to make her so unhappy and in turn me as well. coupled with the lack of sleep thats not helping. i think we have had a couple of times since she was born when she has seemed happy wriggling on the playmat cooh and ahh and that just seems like a different baby to the one we have at the moment. it seems like we cant just enjoy each other because of all this getting in the way.

oh doesnt help as a couple of times this week he grimaced when i hand her over to him when hes come home from work. i know hes worked all day and has an hour drive home and wants to relax, but ive been up with her all night and then through the day and it would be nice to just get a couple of hours in the evening not 'tied' to a baby, and more often than not i end up making food for us in the night anyway. :(

that was a proper full on moan!
  • no probs, hope just typing the message helps you feel better cleofish

my LO is windy too and just started to get more settled periods at 8 weeks. It's awful cos your LO is in pain but you can't do anything about it. Just give her to OH despite the grimacing - then go and have a nap/ rest on the bed. I think it's easier being at work than staying at home with a crying baby. It's amazing how much more tolerant you are after sleep and time apart from LO. I find that I'm really fed up with him but after a break I fall back in love despite the crying.

hope it gets better for you, looks like you're joining me in the countdown until our LO's digestive system matures enough to deal with the wind.

Definitely. Even now, 18 months down the line, my three (very busy) days in the office feel like a break compared to my four days at home with LO. I love her to bits, but little people are hard work! :o

Sainsbury's have 3 for 2 on all baby food (not including milk) until 7th January :)
  • Cleofish, have you looked into the symptoms of silent reflux to see if your LO has any of the signs of that?

Cleofish, have you tried carrying her around in a sling at home? Maybe she'd be happier upright and close to you? I used to have afternoon naps with LO in our bed. If I left her in the basket/cot, she'd sleep for 20 mins max - cuddled up to me in the big bed we'd always get at least 2 hours. I can honestly say it kept me sane in the early days - it was what I missed most when I went back to work :o
  • I'm still having afternoon naps with my lo so I can def recommend these. And I always know if there's something going on with my lo if he won't settle in his crib at night, like tonight, he's fast asleep next to me in bed whilst oh is at the gym :)
Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!
  • Cleofish we're here whether for a moan, a proud mummy moment or you just want to share. I second what Nutella said, have you tried using a sling? In the first 6 weeks or so I used to wear A more than I put her down because I got more done wearing her than I did trying (and often failing) to put her down. She also slept better in the sling and was more settled.
