    Hi Ladies!!

I'm with you for the good nights Nutella. Charlie has started rarely waking for his dummy now!! So sleeps straight from 8pm - 5/5:30am. So nice not to have to constantly get up to put the dummy back in. I think he must be nice and cosy too. We have him in a 2.5tog sleeping bag, pj's, long sleeve bodysuit and a blanket over him. Plus i'm testing him out with a thin pillow, as he always gets onto ours when in our bed. So far so good x

I must confess we've still T in our room as sort of followed 6 months guideline (in a crib, not moses basket) and now he's 6.5 months, figure we'll keep him with us until we've had our visitors stay with us for his Christening in a couple of weeks. He's got used to being in with us though, I think he sleeps better hearing us snoring, reassures him almost. I think it's going to be messy when we do put him in his own room.
    I like nutella (both)

Hope I've not missed anyone out. :o

Hopefully it'll go smoothly, he may just surprise you!

    Afternoon ladies :)

Nutella Yay!! for a good night's sleep :) and LO spending the whole night in her cot :j

Mozzy Yay for you too for a good night's sleep :)

Claree glad that you also had a good night last night, especially after your day. A immediately slept better when she went into her own room; I think it was the extra space which meant when she moved she didn't bump up against the sides.

lao_cat I bf, but in the groups I go to there is a mix of ff and bf. We do a swimming lesson Wednesday, free play group Thurs, music group Friday. Thurs and Fri are at my local children's centre. A lot of the mums who go to the free play group on a Thursday come to the music group on a Friday and we usually go out for a cuppa after. For the first couple of months I just went to the Thursday group (as music is only for 4+months old) and didn't talk much as I'm rubbish at small talk but I wanted A to see other children/babies on a regular basis and I found listening to the other mums made me feel less alone. It also gave me a focus and reason to go out.
And your OH's boss is definitely a weirdo! How on earth is it in OH's job description to do the boss's kid's homework???

lazywife glad that you're ok, and as mozzy said, T may surprise you. A was sleeping for 4hrs, then waking 2hrly until I put her into her own room and she started sleeping through.

AFM, I started doing a proper bed time routine yesterday and it went to plan getting A to bed. She woke at ten to 1 this morning, had a feed (which I fell asleep during) and when I woke up at 2:20 I popped her back into her cot and she slept until 8 so all in all, not a bad night :) We went to visit my inlaws today. Bless her, mil knows A loves her music group, so she bought this for A to play with when we visit. A loved it and "performed" beautifully lol playing, rolling, sitting up and moving about the room as well as laughing and chattering.

Hope that everyone has had a lovely day
    Saf x

Music maker sounds great saf, can't wait 'till Eilis is picking up toys & stuff, she's still not really interested, boo!

Had her at the health visitor this afternoon and she's dropped from the 91st centile to the 50th centile for weight which is a little bit of a worry. I think she's also a bit constipated which would explain her unsettled-ness through the day and also why she's been off her milk a bit (which in turn would explain the weight!) so we've got a gp appointment at 4.50pm to get her checked out. The health visitor mentioned gaviscon for constipation but when I look it up it seems to be loads of mums saying it GAVE their LO constipation so I'm hoping she just got mixed up :rotfl:

ETA: Has anyone tried the water babies swim lessons? It's £145 for 10 weeks ( ) just wondering if anyone's done it and thinks its worth it?

Aww Saffagirl your little one sounds like a cutie! Can't wait until Amelie is big enough to join in rhyme time and music activities with other babies. Think we will try baby sensory next week when she'll be nearly 6 weeks, can't wait!

On the topic of LOs in their own room, how long did you all wait? I know the guidance is 6 months but she's almost outgrown her Moses basket (v. proud to hear from HV today she's in the 95th centile for length even if she's still a skinny 50th centile sausage!). Her cotbed is way too big to put in our room but it's also humungous for her coming from the basket! We have a baby monitor and the room is next door to ours if that makes any difference?! Interested to hear your views x

3 months and a day for us, baby monitor on and all doors open. I was fairly paranoid but I'm sure I'll get better. I, like you it seems, didn't really have an option unless I wanted to camp on the floor beside her cot (which I DID consider!)

lobey A went into her own room at 12 weeks, so just before 3 months old because I couldn't fit her cot into our room and she'd outgrown the basket. She's slept better since being in her own room. I have once camped on the floor beside her cot - when she was about 13 weeks we had a power cut in the early hours; she was asleep in her cot but I wasn't comfortable having her alone in her room without the baby monitor on.

Claree has Eilis suddenly dropped or has she been dropping centiles gradually - so gaining but not enough to keep her in the 91st? Also, if you had IV during labour this could have resulted in an inflated birth weight. Hope it goes well with the GP. These little ones do like to keep us on our toes x
Re swimming, I thought waterbabies was too expensive so we do lessons at the local public pool - £75 for 15 lessons which I thought was much more reasonable.

Six months exactly here, and by that point I was desperate for her to go into her own room as we kept waking each other up! We had space for her cot bed in our room though - if we hadn't, she'd have gone into her own room much earlier, as she had outgrown her basket at around three months. We did, however, have to dismantle the cot bed to get it out of our room and into hers, then rebuild it next door! :rotfl:

I did it with DS1, personally, for the money, I didn't think it was worth it. To me it just felt like walking round the pool singing songs and then dunking baby under at the end. Half the babies would emerge coughing and spluttering everywhere, DS certainly did not enjoy the dunking!

Anyhow since last week I've been working on ways to stop myself feeling like I am just muddling through. I worked really long hours before maternity and I've found the transition from an easier day at work to home with a baby (I'm not sure I understand) really really hard! I do find it easier when I have things to break up the day so I'm going to NCT classes, helping an elderly lady with her shopping and appointments (which I can do with a baby), buggymovers and my mum, sister and SIL only work part time so I have them too. It still leav

One thing I don't get and wonder if anyone could help me with. I think I'm messing up big time. My baby only sleeps when we go out - either in his pram or car seat. Now this is a problem because I think I'm mistaking hunger cues for tiredness. He's 6 weeks and I should know this but how an earth do you know if your baby is tired or hungry? Until 3.5 weeks he was falling asleep after each bottle and I could put him down for a nap and he's just sleep but since then he's more awake and alert but he does get cranky but (this is how carp I am) I assumed if he was tired he'd sleep!!! So I always feed him when he cries and have now noticed he's having little top ups around bigger feeds (that are close to 3hrs apart) and then spitting up alot. He is sleeping pretty much through night (5hr stretch, waking for a feed and then another 3 or 4 hours) but other people seem to coax their babies to sleep in day and I don't!!! I just assume he isn't tired! At night we bath him, give him a bottle and put him in sleeping bag and he falls asleep on us without any effort

If I have fed DD less than 1.5 hours ago, in the first instance I'll assume she's not hungry, and providing she has a clean nappy I will put her over my shoulder and pat her back (for me this kills two birds with one stone, if its wind, she'll burp, if its tiredness she'll drop off). If I've been doing this for 15 mins and she hasn't dropped off i'll offer her a feed. Failing that, sometimes she just wants to be put down on her mat or in her basket. She'll continue crying for a few minutes but then she tends to stop and have a kick about or fall asleep. It's sort of counter intuitive to put a crying baby down but I do think sometimes they feel 'mithered' with all the holding and rocking and cuddling we do to try to stop them crying. Or maybe its just my kids taking after me and feeling claustrophobic with too much physical contact!
