Big big hugs Claree You're doing a fantastic job and Eilis is lucky to have you as her mum. A has never been a good sleeper in the day either - when she was younger I would go for a drive just so that she would sleep, or if she still cried I could legitimately ignore her because I'm driving so I wouldn't feel guilty for doing so
And it is ok to cry - these little people are so, SO precious but they are also very, very demanding and I think OH's in particular forget this as they go out to work and when they are home, so are we most of the time!
You're not a bad person for feeling jealous that Eilis gives fil smiles. It won't be that much longer though, and all she'll want is YOU and she'll watch others walk out the room, then cry when YOU walk out. Hee hee, that brings a whole new level to the game of Peek-A-BooYou're her mum - no one can ever take that away from you. I used to find if I was feeling tense or stressed A would be worse and I calmed myself down I could calm her down quicker and more easily which could by why fil managed easily yesterday. We feel we need to know what's wrong or be able to quickly and easily settle our LO's especially when others are about.
MrsH gave a good suggestion - I've done that, both lying on the bed and lying on the sofa with LO on the floor.
lobey hope that your little settles down soon too. I keep telling myself - this is a phase and it will pass. LO isn't trying to wind you up. It always, always seems worse in the night. I've cried when LO has woken screaming and refused to go back to sleep. Not helped by OH asking me "What's wrong with her?" UH ,I don't know any more than you do!! She didn't arrive with a manual! Sometimes men Grrr!
Seems like a few of us are having a tough day today, so here is a :grouphug:0 -
Benice some days it is a case of survival because as precious as they are, they are DEMANDING and we're on call 24/70

Minimuffin ds is just over 12 weeks so I really hope we are over the worst of it.
Clare bug hugs, it is tough when they won't settle, C also doesn't nap well during the day and it is soo tough when you just want a break for a couple of mins to at least finish a cup of tea. I find it hard too when he will settle for other people and not for meI like to remind myself that 9 times out of 10 i am on my own trying to settle him and it is much easier to have the time and energy to do it when it's not the only thing you have been doing all day! You are doing a great job and esp when you don't feel like you are!
Does anyone have any advice on how to help C settle in the car? I have tried toys and a soother. He just screams till I pull over.....0 -
Thanks everyone, sorry I'm such a moaner. She's napping in her cot so I'm having "lunch" and watching catfish. Huge hugs to everyone xx
ETA: this moron on catfish thinks she's talking to the rapper bow wow. Obviously if she is I'll look like an idiot but I doubt it :rotfl:My Debt Free Diary

Thanks Saffagirl, I'm glad your LO had a good night last night, it makes all the difference! I know it's just a phase and is probably coinciding with her growing out of her newborn clothes so I'm just hanging in there one day at a time. Going to have a nice bath and hot chocolate when OH gets home and give myself 30 mins of peace to get my strength up.
Hope everyone gets a better night tonight!0 -

Hell yeah! This is exactly it - there is no one else - we are their servants and we must obey....well, most of them time (at least that's what it feels like isn't it!).
Hugs to all those having a rubbish few days - and to those who say their LO isn't sleeping during the day - I remember pleading with people on here only a few weeks ago asking for advice on how to get LO to sleep during the day. We have almost (note almost! LOL!) mastered a daytime nap but its still very much trial and error. Sometimes when I put her down she will scream, sometimes she will coo and fall asleep - but my god its taken time and patience just to get one nap happening!
No one prepares you for the fact that you have this little thing that won't do what you want it to do (or expect it to do!) - I used to think babies would sleep most of the time (ha!), gurgle and coo all day (haha!) and still give me enough time to do housework/cooking etc (hahaha!!!!). I wrote "clean me" on the back of our car today as it hasn't been washed in 5 months....oh....that's the baby's age then!:D
I am only writing this as LO is in front of Cbeebies with the OH as he's off today!(and we are counting down....one hour to go until the bed time routine begins LOL....!)

Have to agree plus the effort it takes to even have a shower, never mind get a chance to eat. Not sure exactly how I pictured my mat leave but feeling like I achieved something as I am washed and dressed by 12 o'clock wasn't part of the picture.
C is currently napping so I think I am going to have to wake hi up so he will sleep tonight doh I might have a cuppa and start dinner first!0 -
6 week check and all passed, yay...
Scarlett weighs 9lb 3.5oz so took a picture of her as my midwife predicted her birth weight to be 9lb 6oz. Wondered how old she would be when she was close to this weight.
Think she's going to be tall as well, 75th percentile.
Unfortunately she has a cold though, saline spray is helping a bit but horrible to hear her all blocked up.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160
