Sorry Lao, your "friend" sounds awful
what are you giving him for colic?
We have him on infacol which doesn't seem to have made much of a difference and I do the colic massage 3 times a day and hqve stopped having dairy. the massage seems to help but as we were having work done on the house last week I wasn't as diligent about doing it so I really paid for it. Am just hoping he grows out of it. We were over with my mum last week and he had an episode, she was completely taken aback but really supportive. Which makes such a differnence to me. Its really tough and there is nothing like hav g your baby screaming in distress and not being able to help to make you feel like the worst mother ever!
Glad Ellis stay with your in laws went well0 -
Morning everyone.
Hugs for the unsettled babies, I think it's such a horrid cycle to get into, I find once A has one bad night they just sort of merge and it takes days to get back into a proper routine
We had quite a nice weekend, we went to order our Christmas turkey and all the other bits for dinner on Saturday, and took A to WH Smith to get some new booksTrying to narrow it down to 2 wasn't easy, he seemed to want them all, and so it begins..
Went out for coffee and cake with a friend yesterday afternoon and took A to soft play for a bit, was a nice relaxing day.
Also we packed our pram away into the garage yesterday  haven't used it now in around 4 weeks, so figure it's time for it to stop taking up space in the house. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Morning alll, mrsh sorry your oh had a go at you, definitely not your fault.
Laocat- sorry to hear about your mil, what a stressful time you and dh have had and your friend, how rude of her! Lo will grow out of colic, for us it eased at 13weeks, how old is he?
Claree glad the stayover went well. Wonder why the obsession with the teething?
saffa yay for long sleep stretches!
Does anyone do dream feeding? Lo takes last bottle at 7pm, in bed for 7.30, he was sleeping whole way until 7am for weeks but has started to wake at 4/5am, this morning he went back down after a bottle at 6am, am wondering if I should feed him before I go to bed so he stretches through or just feed him at the time he wakes? Just when you think you have a routine sussed- they change their minds!lolMum of 2 :j0 -
Is there any point when she'll just stop crying all the time?My Debt Free Diary

Oh claree, big hugs. Has she slept much so far today? I find my lo gets really cranky if he needs a nap. I take him out in his pram if he kicks off in the house, the wide open air cushions the sounds of crying! Is your lo generally content? Might be an off day for her. Sorry im rubbish at advice, being a first time mum too.Mum of 2 :j0

For everyone with newborns, I'm a big believer in the fourth trimester, will link below.
I found trying less to make sense of the screaming and more just battling to get through it easier. Same with nightly wake ups, the more I just expected it the easier it seemed to be to deal with. I had a screamer, he screamed a lot, if he was awake he was screaming  it's horrible to listen to but there comes a point where you have to put them down, grab a few minutes breather, get yourself a drink and snack and when you feel calmer and less upset. Go back to them xxx

Not much but she just refuses to sleep during the day sometimes. It's lashing down outside & I'm feeling poorly so I don't want to take her out but I just feel so useless. She fell asleep in her rocker in the livingroom so I shut the curtains and left. This sounds so awful but I can hear her making noises (not sure if awake or not) and it makes me want to cry.
She has good days and bad but today she just wants to be held all day and I can't do it. There's no use in leaving her to cry because she just won't stop and it takes longer to calm her down.
I need to get this out too. Totally irrational and sounds SO stupid but I need to say it somewhere. I'm jealous of my father in law. Every time he looks at her or talks to her she has the biggest smiles, she even laughed for him and she's never done that for me. I was tryingto settle her yesterday and as soon as he took her off me she fell asleep. I hate that I'm jealous but it's honestly killing me.My Debt Free Diary

Claree, can you take her and put her on your bed? Get a brew and lie on the bed with her, being so close to you may make her settle and calm down, and a lie down for you may be relaxing enough for you to feel brave enough to handle her till oh is back?
Your not a bad mum for leaving her, as long as she is safe your entitled to two mins to yourself. Some days with babies are really really hard for no real reason, but tomorrow will be better I promise.Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
Gillyx that is an interesting link! I've been having a rough day with LO having been screaming since 2am and when finally asleep at 11 woke herself up repeatedly making choking noises! I just have to remember she's a tiny baby and she isn't screaming to make me angry. But aaarghhhh!
Feel for you Claree, hope your LO has a nap soon so you can have a break. I may be attempting the pram trick later if the screaming doesn't stop. Just dreading tonight now!0 -

It would really get to me if someone else could settle baby and it wasn't me or OH! *big hugs*
It's awful having a baby that screams all the time. I let LO sleep in bouncer or swing for 1 or 2 hours if he wants to. I figure that he might be crying cos he's overtired and also staying in a more upright position is better for his wind/ upset tummy.
Is there anyone you can ring to come round and have your LO for a bit? sometimes it's just a little break that you need and maybe a nap. My OH has LO for 2 hours, even if he's screaming, just to give me a break and a bit of a sleep.
I know I should really enjoy him being so little and cute but I do feel like every day is survival and I need to use every coping strategy I can get. I do comfort him when he's crying but because he cries so much I find that I'm getting more indifferent to it - he definitely has a grumbly cry and then a much more urgent screaming cry.
Each week that goes by is great! I just think I'm that bit closer to his digestive system maturing so he can get rid of the wind more easily.0
